Major FLAW to entire plot?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the first option was to do a surgical strike on North Korea destroying their Nuke. The South Koreans suggested not to do that as it would result in major retaliation on South Korea killing 100's of thousands, right?

So why then did those in charge proceed with having the seals do the job? When a) the bombers could have done it anyway. b) it still results in the 'possible' retaliation killing 100's of thosuands of South Koreans??

Any response to this critical flaw? :)

reply

yea the seals were aborted
they ended up finishing the mission

They explained it in the movie. The SEALS were going to sabotage the facility to make it look like an accident. It would look like no outside forces were involved and there would be no retaliation.

the seals and south korean task force, if they succeeded, could have accomplished this mission to destroy the missile without having to escalate the war. if the bombers did it anyway, north korea would have had plenty of proof and have justification to invade south korea and creating a bigger conflict. with the special ops team, there would be little, if no, evidence of any US/South Korean involvement, as the Chingu North Korean officer was able to conceal their identity to their comrades. if North Korea did accuse South Korea and the US of involvement, they would have no proof and the US would counterclaim it had nothing to do with that and say the North Koreans were just covering up for an accident. with a special ops team that can sneak in and out and everyone at the missile site burned, there is no evidence about involvement. there would be evidence from bombs and missiles, and maybe a plane shot down if North Korea got lucky.

If you detonate a nuke there won't be much in the way of evidence either, besides "the great leader" doesn't need an excuse to attack South korea, he needs to negate the fact that his *beep* would get steamrolled in an allout war, and since he can't negate that nothing would happen anyway...
