IN MEMORIAM June MacCloy (1909-2005)

If you are a fan of actress June MacCloy, you are, no doubt, disappointed that she was neglected during the 78th annual Academy Awards tribute to industry people who passed away in 2005. During the In Memoriam segment, the show paid tribute to audio re-mixing editors, but not to Ms. MacCloy, whose career in films placed her opposite Jack Oakie, Leon Errol, Grouch Marx, James Finlayson, Bebe Daniels, and Roger Pryor. Her death was not a secret: Within a few days of her death on May 5, 2005, journalists from Los Angeles Times to The Malaysia Sun wrote tributes and published photos of Ms. MacCloy. Valerie J. Nelson, of the Los Angeles Times, wrote: "Actress Epitomized Golden Era's Glamour." Classic Images and Variety also covered the story. I am encouraging her friends, family and fans to express their dismay to the Academy for their oversight.
