Jekyll - Season 2???

Just looking at the cover for the Jekyll DVD and it says 'Season One' - does this mean we're gunna get a season 2...? if so, will episode six end on a cliff hanger?

its a great show and i hope theres another series
it helps that my fave actress Michelle ryan is in it
but jimmy nesbitt is amazing and he truely does look terrifying as hyde
10/10

I'm really looking forward to tonights episode!

It looks sooooo good!

We interrupt this program to annoy you and make things generally irritating

reply

sometimes they just put series 1 even if there's never a series 2, there is a possibilty but i guess it all depends on how it ends. This series seems to be covering the mysteries of what the comapny want and where Jackman came from etc etc but if all the questions are answered there wouldn't be a need for more but then again steven moffat is an excellent writer and if he did write another series i'm sure it'd be just as good as the first

reply

I'm sure it's a one off drama. It's brilliant though and a great idea, Steven Moffat is a genius.

reply

Hmm, they said tyhat next week is the Conclusion of Jekyll. That doesnt sound good. I really hope we get a series 2. The show just gets bether with every episode.

reply

[deleted]

REally? They might do a second series...

I hope they don't Second Series' Are never as good as the first...

reply

just watched ep 6 and hyde is killed and dr jackman survives and finds out his mother is a jekyll so i assume that series 2 continues the story with dr jackmans mother and his "twin" boys who magically swopped caskets (haha love it)

reply

If there was a series 2 (which i really hope there is), it would have to keep Tom Jackman in, without him and James Nesbit, it really wouldn't be Jekyll at all!

They have left it open ended so it could be easy to fit series 2 in with the end which would be good to explain why Tom's, Mother's 'Hyde' was in the organisation and everything else.

are you a complete retard, or is it just all in your head?

in case you are too dumb to pick up on what im saying, here im hinting at mental retardation, which i believe that you have a severe bout of, i would suggest seeing a vet immediately

I really can't be bothered to even try to make sense of this. If you have to resort to such a low form of attack then perhaps you shouldn't be posting here. And you cannot have a severe bout of mental retardation as 'bout' is defined as a short attack of an illness, whereas mental retardation is generally very long-lasting and nigh impossible to treat totally successfully.

i was so surprised when stupidly accented american woman was the hyde to his mum's jekyll! brilliant twist. and that claire was a clone. clever.
brilliant writers!
basically, it doesnt seem that anyone knows about a 2nd season.

That is great news. I thought it was a bad way to end on a cliffhanger!

reply

*SPOILERS DAMMIT*

well didn't toms mother say at the end "it never really goes away" or words to that effect meaning hyde? so theres every possibility that james nesbitts hyde could come back in season 2, which i hope he does because i thought he was brilliant

"Tread softly because you tread on my dreams"

reply

Jackman isn't aware his children are the same as him. I suspect that the blonde child is normal, like Jackman, and that the dark haired child is like Hyde which would explain why he wasn't affected much by seeing a lion brutally killed.

What I gather from what she says is that it's been passed on to his kids, but that "his" Mr. Hyde is dead.

reply

Personally I think "his" Mr. Hyde will return.. Think about it, yes there are branching stories of other characters and subplots.. But in the end, it is the story of Jekyll & Hyde... The main Hyde will be back for sure.

reply

Well his mum did say at the end of last nights episode. its not over, and he said his body had healed around the remaining bullets. well it was hyde who healed faster. I don't think he's dead i think he's just healing.

As for the twins my theory...which is probably all wrong is that they can swap personalities. because there is no logical way they could have escaped those caskets so they must have swapped personalities or summit like that!!

I was so shocked when his mum turned out to be the american woman aswell! fantastic twist though!!

i hope there is another season though!!

reply

Yeah, his mum said "you think its over don't you? but it will never be over"

Or something like that

I'm assuming he's not dead. Maybe a coma lol

I think he's temporarily out of action but he'll be back.

My father...Your son...Holy conoli! Your my sister!

reply

A superb twist I know. Explains how she escaped from the prison. Leaves a few unanswered questions as well, so they have another series to do it in!

reply

I sort of had the mom thing figured out, could'nt help to notice that it was the same person and when Hyde refered to her as mom over the camera/intercom...
Who do you think he had dinner with, in the first episode?
Wonder if she got out the room, the same way the twins did the box shifting stunt?
So hoping there will be a second season (or a new mini called Hyde), most entertaining british show in many, many years.

reply

"Who do you think he had dinner with, in the first episode?"

(Second episode.) Momma Hyde. It was her brand of cigarette, with her lipstick on it.

"Wonder if she got out the room, the same way the twins did the box shifting stunt?"

All the locks were thumbprint-activated. She just changed to Momma Hyde and used her thumbprint to open it.

According to the BBC the series has been axed?, well according to this email anyways.

Dear xxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your query regarding Jekyll.

Sadly due to very low ratings we've decided not to commission a second series.

We are sorry that the DVD release was listed as series 1 but the news of the commissionings were not given time the release went ahead.

Yours sincerely,

Stupid BBC! The reason it got low ratings is because it was shown on Saturday nights. Put this on a midweek or Sunday night, the ratings would be much higher. There's many mediocre hour slot dramas that get commissioned series after series based on ratings because they are on a midweek night.
This is the best TV series the BBC or any other broadcaster have had for a long time.

reply

Mmmmm.

I've never heard a TV company talk about "very low ratings" for one of its shows.

If they were to acknowledge low ratings at all, they'd be more likely to say something like: "the show was very popular with its fans, but we felt it did not have a broad enough appeal".

But in fact, it would be more likely that they wouldnt discuss ratings at all. They'd say: "We were very pleased with this show. It achieved its purpose. However, the story is now concluded and we presently have no plans for a sequel."

Your supposed email is poppycock!

POPPYCOCK!

Because, I too sent them an email and got a VERY generic response from them in return... Pointing me to various FAQ's on the BBC website and not addressing either the glowing praise that I had offered up in defense of the series, nor my direct questions about it being canceled or not...

one thought i had was perhaps the twins both have the jekyll/hyde condition and it was between these two personalities that they were swopping i.e when 'jekyll' was bored 'hyde' took over and vice versa.

reply

No, my thought on THAT was that they WERE each others respective Jekyll and Hydes. Specifically, that Harry (the light-haired boy) was the Jekyll and that Eddie (the dark-haired and snotty-nosed boy) was the Hyde...

And that when they swap... THEY LITERALLY SWAP... I.E. - if they were both in containers, they would LITERALLY PHYSICALLY SWAP CONTAINERS when they chose to swap... (They seemed to have a far better grasp of the condition than any of the adults.)

I think what I'm saying here is plausibly confirmed by Claire during the episode because she commented to the boys that they had "even put you in the wrong containers"... To which the boys replied that, no, due to boredom, they had swapped...

Not as shocked as I was when I realized her accent was supposed to be American.

your almost as dumb as wagdo, there's no JEKYLL without HYDE, of course he'll come back

your local vet should be able to steer you in the right direction, just lay off the horse pills

Does anyone know for certain that there will be a 2nd season? There should be. Jekyll is the best piece of Saturday night TV I have ever seen. DVD is out today. Will be buying it.

Sorry for not seeing your message before I posted my message a few hours after yours which was on a different thread. I would assume news of a second season would be on the thread titled Jekyll - Season 2??? Not a thread called Donwload.

surely your forgetting doctor who, or did it just momentarily slip your mind, don't worry, i'll forgive you............this time

reply

I hope we get a second season too, there's definitely some things that weren't explained by the end I think, like why Claire "activates" the Hype part of Jekyll and what trap the original Dr Jekyll claimed he was setting in episode 5.

Only problem is the lovely Michelle Ryan probably won't be in it because she's the Bionic Woman now...

reply

the "trap" was the potion. As they mentioned they kept trying to replicate the fake potion and whoever took it just died.....

reply

Ryan not being in series would make more sense plot wise. I mean would we really want to see how pine after a married man whose alter ego is also in love with the wife.

But yes a lot of unanswered questions.

We still dont know where the curse starts. I mean we dont know if Jekyll dad or mom had it. We have all those other relatives as well.

reply

I hope they do commission a second series. The last episode had the highest rating for the 9pm Saturday slot. And it is a fantastic show.

reply

I loved it! Bring on Season 2! James Nesbitt is incredible!

According to Steven Moffatt, he has scripts lined up for the beeb to look at for season 2. I really hope it's true.
Hmmm, don't think they will be able to get Michelle Ryan due to the Bionic Women remake. Maybe a sexy timelord known as David Tennant could play a psychiatrist with eyes for Gina Bellman
*sighs*
Can wish can't I
