I hate his wife so much it ruins the entire show for me.

I've heard that Gina Bellman is supposed to be something of a decent actress, what with the various shows in her repertoire, she couldn't be absolute sh*te. However, I agree; I think, if she were to be a part of the show, she should have played the psychiatrist. The psychiatrist, conversely, seemed to have more chemistry with James Nesbitt, and I wonder if she wouldn't have done better playing his wife (although the obvious age difference works against her).

Yeah I wouldn't say hate that's a bit of a strong word but she comes across as very unlikeable. Sort of like Bella in Twilight shes so annoying you can't route for her even when she's in trouble.

I agree I kept watching it thinking they should have reversed the actresses and had the woman playing the pysciatrist play the wife.

I didn't like her either, but I feel it might be more because of the writing. Her character annoyed me so much, but perhaps Gina Bellman just didn't have good chemistry with her co-stars.
