I know. The sad thing is that it's so natural to shorten a name, for example if I was chatting with you I would say "Hey Fee" and you would say "Hey, Pel"....
So poor little Aspen would be, "Hey, ..."
Poor girl. Meghan did not think this through.

reply

Meghan doesn't think and Jim plain and simple doesn't care!  

Aw, I think it's cute!

Could go with "Penny" too; I don't have children of my own, but if I did, I'd go with 'Margaret', and I'd totally call her 'Marge'! Maybe it's better I stick to pets ;-)

I went to school with a girl named Aspen, and her nickname was Penny or Pen for short.

Thanks actually cute. Good idea.

I don't think it's any worse than any other place name for a first name: Madison, Austin or Paris.

reply

I just think of Sister Wives now when I hear it! Not good!!!

I actually knew an Aspen in high school. The name just sounds like some richy name to me. I don't think it's that awful since I actually knew a girl with the name but definitely not the best either.
