Scariest Part

I think the scariest part is when you are about to take a picture of that guy in the locker and he wakes up and grabs your arm

reply

the scaryest part for me was definitly when walking in the lockerroom and the music with the babysceams starts loud as hell. i was litterary thinking of turning my 360 of.

That's not stupid at all. The mannequin scene was just horrible, I've never screamed so hard in my life.

when the mannequins surround i just kept moving trying to not crap my pants.

the supposedly dead guy in the locker is what scared me the most.

whether she loves you or not, at least you can write a song about it.

reply

oh yeah the dead guy grabbing ur arm just as you zoom in with the camera, was intense, though i saw it coming when she said something about zooming in and taking another picture, so i drew my head away from the screen or i would *beep* my pants.

Also the part when you're in the subway station, and are about to walk down the escalator (or whats it called) and that Guy turns you around and knocks you down all the stairs, man i screamed right then ( 5.1 surround w/ high sound / lights off) definitely a awesome scare

reply

This game is 2nd scariest in my chart (1st goes to DOOM 3).

The chapter with metro maintance tunnels was pretty spooky. And those underground people made me shiver, oh hell. The SKX's orchard farm house was creepy too.

Overall, a great horror with rather fresh gameplay, as well as some new atmosheric solutions (the guy in the locker - boy that's cool).

I often judge a game based on whether or not it can make me react to something that's not realy there... I definitely fired off a round or two with the shotgun when the mannequins did that :)

reply

Definitely, the department store chapter when the mannequins surround you. I also thought I heard them talking. Had to pause the game to pee.

reply

I thought the scariest part was when ur in the house near the end and u have to search the basement. For some reason those crawling guys kept coming at me 'exactly' when i wasnt expecting it. Never go in a basement AGAIN!!

Another part was when the girl 'criminal' came out of the locker or closet when you tried to open it early in the game at the subway.

And of course the guy in the locker when you took the picture.

reply

scaryiest part would have to be those damn manakins following you somehow. i *beep* my pants.

reply

Definetly the Locker part were you use the cam and he wake's up and grabs you and you see he has no lips, thats really disgusting, but I hope SEGA make another one in the FUTURE because I FREAKING LOVE IT!.

reply

yep...no doubt
mannequins

reply

There are so many!

Definitely the guy in the locker, as many others have said. But I would have to say the part that almost made me wanna turn the game off was in the department store level (I think it was that one, but I'm not positive) when I was walking around, not a bad guy in sight, and all of a sudden I heard someone whisper, "You're Dead." That was ridiculously scary.

reply

yep yep yep the locker part FOR SURE (whats that i smell from below?)

the department store scaryquins hellzz yeah.

the drugo looking chick in the basement water that gets up.

but there's one other bit that prolly won't scare any1 else that scares the *beep* outta me even though i know its coming everytime i replay this game, is the bit where serial killer x first hits you over the head and pushes you out the window, i think it's more the sound of the first hit.

anyone agree this should be a movie??? maybe no blockbuster but it would be good to follow the game exactly minus the birds and metal.

oh and by the way Monolith/sega BRING ON THE SEQUEL!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

scariest part for me was that house at the end oh god did that scare me, the other thing was that girl that comes screaming out of the locker to kill you, so not cool

reply

Im with most of you guys, I played this game at night and in the dark, and loved it. My scariest would have to be when the guy reached out of the locker and grabs you. I jumped up in my seat heh. Overall the game was just freaky, audio coming out of nowhere, doors that close up behind you as if by ghosts.

Another part (which wasnt scary technically, but cool) was when you are on the computer in the library with Rosa and the screen goes all monochromatic with noise, and a few seconds later Rosa is gone, and you get a phone call (who was that by the way? I erased the game and can't seem to remember) Anyways, great game, and I hope to see more.

In my opinion, this is the third scariest game I've ever played. I'd put Silent Hill 2 first, then SH3 second. And if you've played SH, you know how good a compliment that is.

1. The house, where you walk around the house following the trail, but nobody is around appearantly. And you see that little custcene from the crawlers' eyes, you're expecting to be shotgunning your way through teh level. Then you have to follow all this creepy writing all through the house, the only noises are the wind and the atmospheric shudder hitting the window. Then, you go downstairs, and BAM! they start jumping out and running around everywhere.

2. The locker dude. That made me nearly piss my pants. I wasn't expecting it at all!

3. This isn't a specific point in the game, but this one hobo in the subway station...he grabbed me when I wasn't expecting it, and he f-ck-ng starts yelling and screaming in my face!

"You are the Duke of New York! You are A # 1!"

That basement in level nine.

Defintely the apple orchard house. . .why?. . .because unlike the sewers and crap. ..you have nowhere to run. . u are in one house and one little place, with no weapons at first. . .and u kno u are screwed when u NEED a sledgehammer because although there is power and length to it. . .It sucks balls dude. . .but anyway. . .it got worse with yourself goin n the attic and basement. . .because u r thinkin to yourself. . .what could be worse than goin to a creepy claustrophobic weaponless foire and kitchen. . .and even upstairs?. . .well. . .searching the whole house is. . meaning the attic and basement. . .i truly didn't wanna go in the basement because i heard rumors and crap down there from the ign boards. . .and mind u i was playin this by myself with surround sound in the dark. . .on a big inch TV. . .great level and game. . .

the second scariest part is the mannequins flashing different times until u hav to move. . .what's funny is. . .even with my friend playin that part. . .i still got creeped out because the first time i played it. . .i got creeped out so much by that part i just turned ethan the other way and immediately found that crack in the wall. . .but my friend was a lil slow so he was too scared to play and gave me the controller. . .but he kept it. . .i still didn't kno right away what was gonna happen though so i was a lil worried my self. . .my friend stayed there for like an hour cuz he didn't kno what to do. . lol

but the first lvel was the scary as well. . .because playin for the first time. . .u don't kno what to expect of the game u kno? u just kno about the rumors and description. . but once u play and find out what you're in for. .u start to like frickin sweat. . .but no one knows what 's gonna happen. . .so that is why that's scary. . .

that's a helluva a lot of readin. . .u only see so much text if the subject is on religion, or comic books. . .am i right?

The scariest part for me was with the guy in the locker.

I am pretty sure if I was 60 and had a bad heart I would have died right then and there. :P

I seriously needed 10 min to recover :P

At the end of the secondary school scene. Right after coming out of the bloody (literally) shower room and then you hear that distorted child laughter. That just freaked me the Hell out. I swear to God, I was saying to myself "Where the f_ck is the suicide button!?"

And then after you puke, you see that guy walking down the hallway towards you... Oh man... I wanted Ethan to kill himself.

I thought the lunch lady was pretty goofy. That's the funniest part. Her voice is so high.

"I'm right here!!!!!Waiting for you!"

reply

dude did you know there was a fire axe in the middle of the table during the chef fight?

reply

I was expecting the whole gym teacher not being dead, but near the begining, there are two drawers. One has a health kit in it and the other is shut. When you go to open it, one of the crazy women comes out screeching. That was the scariest part for me. I dont know if she just jumps out if you pass it by and dont open it thought. Oh well.

reply

Yeah that's kind of why you have to kill her to cut the hand off of the body holding the axe...

reply

*beep* now i ruined one fright for myself :)

The part with the mannequins was creepy indeed, but the very scene were my spirit almost broke was when the first mannequin opponent jumped veeery slowly from the pedestal and walked around- I just looked in shock with an opened mouth and couldnt move, i tells you!
Is the game any good after this level?

reply

When youre exploring the department store and step arround a corner to see a manquin standing there smilling at you, after the first jump he suddenly screams and leaps at you! did my head more that resident evil ever has

reply

The department store is the scariest thing I never want to through again. But its so awesome.

reply

what the hell is this girl that pops outve a locker?? Im on the last level and i dont rmember that

reply

She's on the fourth level, after you face the two big dudes with a shovel and sledgehammer in the furnace room. Right after that you see two lockers opposite each other. One holds health, the other holds her. That was pretty freaky, especially when she killed me in one hit.

reply

Absolutely freaking scariest part was the skinny little biatch in the locker on one of the metro station levels. i mean, i thought doom 3 was scary, but then this skinny bitch jumps out at me and i actually jumped. i was NEVER so scared in my life from playing a game or even watching a movie. number 2 goes to the mannequins for sure. they just creeped me out. especially those *beep* who pretended to be mannequins then jump out at you. i didn't really think the "dead" guy in the locker was that scary cause i really expected it to happen. i mean, zooming in on a corpse's face, it's a cliche for him to jump out at you.

reply

To be honest at first I was a little naive thinking "oh this game is not scary, whats the big fuss about blah blah blah." Then BAM! the women jumps out the closet. Everything was right at that moment, the atmosphere, the music. Also another creepy moment (doesn't make you jump) was in the department store. When you enter quite early on a dead body gets thrown down a escelater. I went to inspect it and it had, pinned to its chest, a note saying "Leave NOW!" That freaked me out far some reason, I dunno maybe because I was just thinking about what could of wrote that note. That entire level was VERY freaky though. Also, the popular not dead gym teacher did scare me Sh!tless. I was half expecting something but didn't think about it to much until it had actually happened.

reply

You can see the mannequin guy that threw down the body down the escalator. Just look up and left and you'll see him walking away. I felt the basement in level 9 was pretty scary too, kind of like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre basement, just burned up things coming after you.

reply

There's a part in the library where you fall through a floor and your flashlight gets broken or something. Rosa tells you from above to wait a minute while she comes down with another. So you wait in the middle of this dark room, and then all of a sudden the fricking lights start flickering and turning off. Then as they come back on you see Rosa jumping towards you with a large pipe in her hand about to smack you round the head, then you snap out of a little daydream and she's there like normal with a flashlight. I don't know why but that scared me aswell, lol.

The guy in the locker however was damn good, i know it must've been done well because everytime i play it now knowing what's gonna happen it still makes me jump, lol.

reply

store manniquins! I actually tasered them all before they moved cos I thought one of them has to be alive! I fire...charge fire...etc on all of them. I did all five in the original line then assuming it was a bluff and I was safe I walked forward. I heard a noise and the first thing my light sees was the now empty spaces. Freaked I turned to run...straight into one of them. spent the rest of the night cleaning my underwear. lol

reply

One of my scariest parts is one of the ones that nobody has mentioned yet.

That part is in the second level when you go into that office and once you look out the window you see some psycho outside of it. I don't know why that always struck me as scary.

And probably Number 1 is that crazy druggie bitch inside the cabinet in the sewers.

How about when you hear a whisper in the department store changing room and its sudden it says "your dead" that *beep* with me so much I sprinted out of the room and in real life i was like to myself "Holy $hit!"

Pans Labyrinth = Most overrated film of all time

reply

I'm surprised no one mentioned the stair railing.

I was in one of the earlier levels, wandering about, secure in the knowledge that I had a pistol for awhile, when I heard someone muttering nearby. Following the sound carefully, I realized he was one floor below me. I got all excited, knowing I could just shoot him as he ran up the stairs or something, peeked over, and SCREAMED as the SOB pulled himself over the railing just as I looked over, shouting and trying to kill me.

I have to say the locker/teacher is overrated, when she asked you to get a closeup, I totally knew it was going to happen, which is a shame, because it was awesome.

reply

All of the bits people have already mentioned scared me like hell. Especially those mannequins... yikes!

I was actually really freaked out by the bit in the school when you go down into the pool. I just knew it was going to bad from my knowledge of pools from Silent Hill 2, and then everything just goes all insane. Scaaary.

reply

Everything in the department store was nightmarish. The scariest things in the level:
I walked into a changing room with like 4 mannequins in it. Nothing special so I turned to walk around and I hear a whisper.. "Hey." I turned around quickly and then heard "you're dead." That sent shivers all through my body. I was SO scared.

I was panning my flashlight across a room. There was a stand with two mannequins on it on the left side which i flashed over quickly and then i looked back and there was only one mannequin. SO scary.

Other than the department store there was the children laughing in the school which also scared the *beep* out of me. great game.

reply

Yeah I definitely agree with you mtrathen-1. The staircase happens farther into the department store when you are at the top level. There is a locked door that shows winding stairs. When I looked through the window of the door, I saw that crazy guy running down the stairs and turning the corner.

After he turned the corner to go down the winding stairs, I went to the balcony and looked onto the stairs. After a few seconds, I literally said "Where did he go?" All of a sudden he quickly jumped in front of me from below with that loud scream. I looked away for a second freaked out. But when I looked back, he was nowhere in the area. It scared me more knowing could of been around there somewhere. I was walking so slow from then on. Took me longer to beat that level haha.

Mine was in the subway, I got the picture of the liquid, and then i saw the HINT message, so I was looking around thinking, "If they have a HINT, there must be a- OH MY GOD!!!!!" As a guy came from behind and attacked me. I stopped playing at the start of the department store.
