How can I play in a WFC match against people?

I'm a little confused. When I go to Nintendo WFC Match and try to connect it gives me an error message. Also, am I supposed to register a code to find a person, or is registering a code, changing mine? Yea, I'm a little new to this.

Read the instruction manual that came with your DS. You'll find all the info there.
