Why its not being released

the director got in trouble for stealing money.

Source: My friend lives in the house the movie was filmed in and he told me in person

its released over here in Ireland, i rented it last night. I watched half an hour and turned it.... truly awful movie. The film looked like it was shot on some cheap camcorder and the acting was brutal

reply

The film is being released on 25th November in the US.

reply

I have just watched it and have to agree, it has to be the worst Christmas film I have ever watched

reply

I have to disagree I just finished watching this little film and thought that it had some good laughs. I thought there was some good comic chemistry between Donnie Manning(Adam Ferrara) and Norbert Bridges(Matt McCoy).I found myself laughing out loud a few times. In fact I went back and watched that scene again when Donnie confronts Norbert on the street, there were quite a few laughs in that scene. If you can get by the fact that this was a low budget film, a B movie at best and the lack of a Hollywood set I found this to be a rather charming film with a nice story and would suggest to give it a shot.

reply

Exactly what i thought, dylan324. It was a very charming movie and had plenty to recommend it in spite of its low budget.

reply

i enjoyed it as well. of course if you watch it at any other time than christmas you can't get into the vibe of it, but it was funny, amusing and just right

It has been released on DVD in the UK as "The Town That Cancelled Christmas". It's okay, but wholly forgetable. The acting is fine, but the story is weak and whole thing has an indefinably amateurish feel to it, probably not aided by the fact it wasn't shot on film.

reply

That's pretty much what i thought. I didn't think there was anything inherently wrong with the film on the part of those involved. They just didn't have the money or the resources to really do it justice. All in all, i felt that it was charming enough but could really have been better if they had more money to work with and if it were shot on film rather than video.

I bought it last week for £3 in Tesco so has been released in The UK, haven't watched it yet though.

i too bought this from tesco for £3 along with some other xmas dvds. i have just watched it with my wife, and we both thought it was not only one of the worst xmas films but maybe one of the worst films we have ever seen.
The acting was so wooden, the plot was so slow for the first hour, there was some really ropey continuity issues.

It did have some redeeming features though, the chemistry between some of the guys was good at times and could have provided some humour, but it struggled along, and to be honest i was glad when it ended.

It looks amateurish and every now and again you get a random burst of a christmas song, but most of the time there is deathly silence between scenes and an exterior shot. A nice score would have helped matters a great deal.

Good job, I bought Elf at the same time, eh !!

Bah humbug
