A multi-national expedition discovers a lost city beneath a pyramid, where they must stop the re-awakened gods of ancient Egypt from initiating the apocalypse.
Led by the charismatic but eccentric PROFESSOR HAYDEN MASTERTON a multi-national expedition, aided by a freak storm, unearths a long lost pyramid. Masterton leads DOUG ADLER and the rest of his team – his assistant ADAM PRIME, the scientist ROHIT, the psychic CLAIRE BECKET, the opportunist PETER LEVITZ, and Masterton’s beautiful daughter SARAH – into the labyrinthine layers beneath the treasure-filled rooms of the pyramid.
Tricks and death-traps laid five thousand years ago are still in depressingly good working order and, as the expedition continues onward and deeper, they encounter deadly dangers as well as successive clues that point irresistible toward an ultimate secret – a secret that Masterton seems not only familiar with but eager to embrace. When they reach a vast necropolis, filled with ancient corpses, the reawakened GUARDIAN of the tomb – a mummified shaman/warrior - gives chase, driving them on to a final descent deep beneath the sands to make a discovery none but Masterton are prepared for.
Betrayal and murder follow in quick succession as the Ancient gods of Egypt awake from their five thousand year slumber to ignite their second sun and cleanse the earth of human life.
