Total let down

I eagerly awaited this film, being a MASSIVE fan of "But I'm a Cheerleader" & having seen the trailer.
I bought it from the UK as could not rent it (yet)way down in the antipodes.
It looked cool, funny, sexy and clever.
It was yeah sexy.Occasionally cool music video moments
BUT what the F*%k happened to story and decent dialogue and acting and humour?
It was like some first flick made at like 18.
Am so depressed...

I don't agree it was a good movie, okay not as good as BIAC but it had humour, romance and even some politics-though that was the boring bit. Anna and Sadie had great chemistry and the movie was an improvement on some other 'gay' movies outthere.

They're full of words, of how I want you...how...I love you

reply

I was utterly disappointed with this movie.
Both acting and dialogue was terrible. I expected more...

I didn't care to much for the movie either. What was up with the chic wearing the big eye glasses? Was she stuck in the 80's?

reply

way too hipster and unintentionally cheesey.
not nearly as good as but i'm a cheerleader.

I liked it and it made me tear up at the end, because in spite of its cheesiness it was also really earnest.

The ending reminded me of another Kathleen Hannah song that always makes me emotional, New Kicks by Le Tigre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVMq-Djz64o cause that song has a similar, somewhat corny but very earnest feeling to it.

I feel like this movie was the writer/director's fantasy of a generation of feminists that don't hold back at all. The washington monument does look like a giant dick and marriage is oppressive to women, but nobody really cares or notices. I think it was silly, but conforting, to see these women being so committed to feminism.
