Why was this canceled?

I've seen some shows online and it's a pretty good show. Not to mention that Holt (Josh Stewart) is pretty hot; this show had a better story line then most shows that are on today. I think another network should pick it up, although, I know that is highly unlikely.

The show stopped during the second season when the writers strike started. Once it ended, FX didn't want to put the show back up for economic reasons, supposedly, and canceled the show.

I really really hate the time when the writers were on strike. Gosh, they ruined several shows I loved during that time, 'Dirt', 'Prison Break'.... Really really hate those writers.

Like someone else already mentioned, part of the reason was because of the writers strike. The other part is that FX wanted them to lighten the show up, which ended up making the show feeling rather uneven and turning off fans of the show.

There is a LOT of 'wiggle room' in the definition of "Fairly" when Joe/Jane sixpack looks at Hollywood

As mentioned, the writers' strike played a huge factor. Also though, this show was like the seedy "Entourage" in that it was more an exploration of the underbelly of Hollywood and the symbiotic relationship between bottom-feeders/paparazzi & the stars. A lot of it was well-written but it wasn't really a "fun" show nor was it supposed to be. The recommendation of Nip/Tuck is actually pretty accurate though I feel that was a better show.

Also, maybe I'm just biased, but I thought this show was horribly marketed in the beginning by FX! Almost every single commercial break they played the little teaser with that Peter Gabriel song "Digging in the Dirt"...

" This time, you've gone too far... this time, you've gone too FAR
I told ya, I told ya, I told ya, I told ya, I told ya....
(fast forward 30 seconds)
I told ya, I told ya, I told ya, I told ya, I told ya"

This turned A LOT of people off to even wanting to watch the series to begin with, imo.

Season 1 was strong with risky, hard-hitting storylines ripped right off the days headlines! And the mini-arc format (with a guest character getting 2 to 3 eps for his or her arc) was very well done. Not to mention the Season 1 casting was virtually perfect.

The show really lost it's way in Season 2. Lucy became a do-gooder, Don became totally sane (and boring), and some of the new cast members just didn't cut it like the Season 1 casting choices.

I guess this was just a one season type of show...

Sometimes that's hard to swallow because the show appears so promising that we want it to go on for many years.

Season 2 fell off the wagon and it began to turn into something less attractive than the first season. I guess FX wanted it to go lighter and Season 2 is what they got. Ratings fell and with the Writer's Strike, FX just saw no point in wasting time with the show's downhill.

Still, at last we got a pretty good first season which is what matters. I thought, Season 2 sort of gave the "happy" closure that was needed after season 1.

i think because don (skitzo) was also leaving and so were a few other main characters like willa and the new guy from harvard on season 2. so many people were leaving the show along with the dwindling ratings...

The show got canceled because it sucked think about it .If it was that good why would they need to cancel it after a second season ?
