Ruff and chocolate

Often during the series, Ruff mentions that because he is a dog he cannot have chocolate. Chocolate is toxic to dogs and can kill them.

I just recently saw the second season episode "Roughing It With Ruff". During the show, Blossom is seen serving s'mores to Ruff. The problem here is the s'mores contain chocolate as a main ingredient. At the end of this episode the daily winners receive a prize of chocolate covered insects and Ruff even mentions that he wouldn't know how they taste since he cannot have chocolate.
