Portugal are a bunch of f ucking dirty cheats! Ronaldo is a disgrace he deserved a smack in the mouth! They don't deserve to be in the semi final against France, England were the better side!

reply

Of course England were the better team. Anyone actually paying attention would notice that. It seems to me that this World Cup is descending into a complete farce. Ronaldo was spineless. He and his cheating bastard team mates know that they are not the team that deserves to be playing France.

As for Ronaldo specifically, he'll get what he deserves from Rooney when he gets back to Manchester. It won't be long before he's on the transfer list. Fergie would rather have Rooney than Ronaldo, anyone with a brain would agree with him.

These last couple of days i've been reading the reaction to the England loss to Portugal and i'm astounded at the venum and denial from the English fans and press. WTF is going on?! And let me say this before I go on... i'm born and bred in England. Supported them through this world cup, but I am also realistic, they did not play very in all their games. As far as i'm concerned, Portugal won fair and square. If we want to blame anyone for the loss then go after the loonatic Rooney. A hard head who did attempt to crush another players testicles and was sent off accordingly. Plus, why did it England only play well when they were down to ten men? We need to ask ourselves why was that? Why did we not play well from kickoff?

And why is Ronaldo being labelled as the devil himself? He only did what he was suppose to do, play well and kick a successful penalty. Good for him that he will no longer return to Manchester United. I don't blame him. Get the fu*k away from the madness which seems to have engulf a large section of the thinking population of England. I truly believe that he's life would be in danger anyway if he returned to England. And the really sad and pathetic part of this is that the media is encouraging the violence, hate and racism. Instead of us looking at why we cannot shoot penalities we turned on Christiano Ronaldo like a pack of wolves simply because he winked. Are we that weak that Ronaldo winking at his bench we want his head on a stick. All the while the thug Rooney continues to more or less to walk away without being penalized for his disgraceful actions. Good lord, I feel embarassed for us. And the racism flowing freely from the months of so many English folk is a total disgrace.

Wow, you're like one of the first English fans I've seen around here who is actually being honest... Especially about all the racism etc.
Of course people will be upset and angry but there's no need for such hatred especially for C. Ronaldo. Thanx for that...
People criticize Ronaldo for bad sportsmanship, but they should look at the way they themselves carry on... A dartboard of his face... Hmmm... That's really good sportsmanship!
Being annoyed/angry is one thing, disprespect is another.

reply

I so agree with you. That was very well put. It's like I heard myself talking when I read your post, just without the being born and bred in England, and supporting them.

Mitzle7, appriciate your honesty. I remember well 98. God, that was a terrible time for Beckham. The press was unrelenting.

Portugal are now out of the World Cup, so the English fans and press got their wish, now I hope we can move on. I hope all this nonsense regarding Ronaldo dies down. The guys not coming back to Manchester United anyway, so leave be. Although I do believe Manchester United has lost one of it's finest plays. Plus, no matter what you may think about Ronaldo, one thing is for sure, everytime he stepped out onto the field this World Cup he played as though his life depended on it. His love and desire to win for his country seem to bridge on insanity at times. But this is the world Cup, the biggest sporting event on the planet, something which only happens every four years, so that insane desire to win is justified and welcomed. Indeed, I wanted England to have some of that animalistic desire to win, but sadly I just didn't see it. Hopefully in 2010 it will be there, because God knows we have the talent.

What we need to do instead of all this hatred toward Ronaldo and the Portugal team is to re-group. Lets now channel all this negative energy into something positive. We need to look at England's coaching style. We have to make a change because we just don't look that impressive when we step out onto the world stage during the world cup. And let's be honest, we haven't won the World Cup in 'FORTY' years. 1966 was the last time the Cup belonged to England. And this last decade or so we've choked before reaching the final. We cannot continue our style of play because it's just not working. This 2006 team we were told was one of the finest in years...so what happened? And please, lets pratice our penalty shots.

reply

"and please lets practice our penalty shots"

lmao, ya they need work on that. But even if they were good, portugal's goalie is great and portugal is usually very strong with penalties against any team. I think England will do better the next cup though. I think they realize they have a bad coach. I mean the team is excellent, but i don't think the coach is any good, and i think they're needs to be a more positive attitude. When you're in a good mood and confident success is easier to achieve. For example ronaldo's penalty shot...he walked up confident, didn't let the nerves get the best of him, and he scored. England is definitly capable of achieving more next time around
