I don't know if this answer has been clarified before, so pardon my ignorance lol. But, just curious, who are the children standing with the players at the beginning of each game? when they sing their national anthem. I figured it can't be the players' children. . . because they can't ALL be fathers already. . .

shareThe players don't have their own children as mascots though. At least none of the England team has ever done this, as far as I am aware. The children go to the matches, but they watch from the boxes with the rest of their family. The kids who actually lead the team out are generally competition winners from around the world. I think it's supposed to promote the idea of no racism in the tournament, that kids from all over the world are there.
