Plot Point Confusion...

I've asked before and I never really got an answer. What was the significance of Amanda leaving the key for Adam? Ok, so lets say it DIDN'T go down the drain- Adam escapes and gets help... or maybe there was more to his game beyond the door? I don't really see the purpose of this, especially since everything in the SAW movies eventually gets an explained motive. I can do without replies saying that we might still get an explanation in a later film. I've already thought of that. But I've never seen anyone with this same confusion so I'm afraid there's something in the trilogy I missed.

You didn't miss anything. Amanda and the key is a heavily debated issue, there is no right answer. Atleast, not until Saw IV comes out and explains it.

According to the commentary, Amanda was meant to tie the key around Adams foot. She carelessly tossed it into the tub when Jigsaw wasn't looking, showing that she didn't want her "patients" to surrvive their game. This however is a plot hole, considering that Jigsaw new that the key was in the tub and told Adam where it was. He didn't seem to worried that Amanda just tossed away, free to go down the drain. The key was meant to see if Adam would panic or prevail by getting his barrings and the key to get out. That's what i got out of it. if anybody has any other opinons, feel free to argue.

You're contradicting yourself there.

You say Jigsaw didn't know that Amanda dropped the key into the bathtub not caring

Then you say he must have known, because he said the key was in the bathtub.

However, if he DIDN'T know what she did, then he would assume the key is still in the bathtub.

My whole point is contadiction.

1. Key was meant to be tied to Adam's foot
2. Amanda just tosses it in there
3. Jigsaw tells Adam that key is in bathtub (shouldn't he have said your ankel or behind the shackles he's wearing?)

My point is that its a plot hole. In the first film, it appears that Jigsaw knew the key wpuld be in the tub and most likely down the drain. However, the saw 3 commentery says that there's a deleted scene where it's explained that amanda is meant to tie it around his foot, but carlessly tosses it in the tub (knowing it would get lost down the drain). I was glad that scene was deleted, because it seems like a plot hole.

If the scene was deleted then there is no plot hole to talk about.
