Good but something new will be needed to save ITV

While I'm not complaining at all about there being a new Cracker- it was the best one since McGovern's last one and definitely a hell of a lot better than the quite silly and far- fetched (in places) "True Romance" that ended the last proper series 11 years ago- I am noticing a bit of a pattern. ITV reviving "Sharpe", "Cracker" and next "Prime Suspect" for one last episode each- all good stuff it's agreat to see again. But all it's really illustrating to me is how much better ITV used to be and how badly it's gone down hill. Although I don't watch that much TV, watching the new "Cracker" I realised- without exagerrating at all- it was the first time I'd watched anything all the way through on the chanel for years.
So all these revivals are well and good, but surely it's time for ITV to take a chance on something new- seek out new writers, people who've never written anything for TV before, take some risks, ITV! Nobody cares about your formulaic "Wire in the Blood" rubbish! Even the still very set in their ways BBC run "New Talent" campaigns. ITV needs to catch up to save itself.
