Good Idea, but will it last?

*** Possible Spoiler ***

Mr. T's got an interesting idea here of being a "reality check" for shaking people out of the complacent ruts that we often get into, forcing them to look at themselves and the world around them in terms of the "Big Picture" of things. This is important stuff, and is a good dose of old-fashioned "common sense."

I wonder, though, how well and how long it will play for. The first couple of times might well be interesting, but there's a danger it can become formulaic and dry. Mr. T's personality, humor, and honest intention will carry it far, but it might deliver a more long-lasting message if it evolves into more than just a glorified one-man show. Bring in Stallone for a couple of episodes, for instance, have the two of them work together. Even other characters from Mr. T's past, like Hulk Hogan could do a guest bit. That would make it a better draw in the long run, imho.

Thought it was TVLand.

Pay attention, it airs on TVLand.

reply

Haha, no you pay attention. He said "vh1 will do anything to get hulk's show cross promoted." He meant exactly what he said, VH1 will do anything to get HULK'S show (Hulk has a stupid show on VH1 called Hogan Knows Best) promoted. So maybe they will do a cross promotion sometime. Also, Dick Cheney is a robot.

STALLONE IS TOO STUCK UP. I LIKED HIM MORE WHEN HE WASNT ON A HIGH HORSE. YALL FORGETING 1 FACTOR BESIDES MR.T WHICH MAKE UP THE ENTIRE CAST AND CHANGE WITH EVERY EPISODE: THE PPL HE HELPS. MR.T FIRST MISSIONS EASY ENOUGH BUT THESE REAL PPL SO IT WILL GET MORE DIFFICULT AND REAL. KIND OF MAKES IT INTERESTING.

Move over, Earl, there's a new "best show on TV" and its title is I PITY THE FOOL. This is a must-see series especially for those of you who haven't come
to appreciate Mr. T's considerable talent. An anomaly whose gruffness
is complemented by his lovable side, the T Man takes us on a hilarious
journey that is just as inspirational as it is funny. This is a reality show that the viewer can become part of. A total riot that 99% of you will enjoy and recommend to your friends.

It'll probably get canceled soon, even if it's good. TV land always cancels every special-hour show they make. (TV Confidential,Chasing Farrah,Sit-Down Comedy, etc.)

reply

Is it cancelled cause there have only been six episodes or is that the end of the season?

Ah, I see...

So the fact that no more episodes are (AFAIK) planned is not necessarily an indication that the show did not do well? I guess I'm rooting for Mr. T if only because he seems like a decent guy, (and I like my decent guys to eat regularly) that's all.

If this cancellation policy of TV Land's something they just arbitrarily do or is there some little-publicized reason behind it? Just curious.

This show has obviously not lasted, as only six episodes have been broadcast as of November 2006. It is now over two years later, and there has been no news of any more episodes. Either it's on a long hiatus, or it's been cancelled. It would be great if they brought it back, but who knows?
