Sawney Bean

Why do people like the reviewer above keep saying that Sawney and his family existed? i am Scottish and have read a lot about Sawney and as almost anyone could see there is no proof he actually existed.
If a large number of a family were burned to death in Edinburgh there would be records.

I'm going to look into it. It would be interesting to find out if it is fact or fiction. It could be just a legend like you say.

I feel for you, I was born and raised in Texas and I am 36 years old and I STILL have to argue with stupid kids on the net that "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" wasn't real. They just want to beleave the hype.

You're completely right. Some think it was propaganda made up by the English press at the time to portray the Scottish as savages, in retaliation of the Jacobite revolts. Alot of english people still do this type of thing today, except instead of cannabals the Scots are shown to be violent drunks who beat there wives and eat Haggis and battered mars bars day and night.
The legend of Sawney Bean would make a stunning horror movie made by the right person though, don't you think?
