isn't it a fab movie with good performancesand backbone is script unlike wink wink kank. personally i loved this movie did anybody of u watch it. u must watch it. there was a married pair sitting next to me in the theater and they were so happy with the movie. that was magical

shareyeah it was good...so different from the usual movies...except some scenes were really archaic, but i guess tht was the appeal.
altho the songs SUCKED..like the worst songs ever, i wish they had cuter songs.
Not all the songs were great, but i thought Do Anjaane Ajnabi and Mujhe Hak Hai were good. I wouldn't listen to just the song itself but along with the movie they were fantastic.

I was beginning to lose faith in the Indian movie audience...
Okay, i know. it's the same story with different actors. but i mean, bollywood would never be bollywood without it. i mean seriously, didn't it just tug at your heart? sure KANK was good and all, but i think hindi movies coming out now are way tooo westernized. i mean, jeez, i'm from USA and looking at they way they dress the women in these movies makes me wanna puke. it's so provocative. i went to go see an indian movie, if i wanted to see half naked girls and guys lusting after them, i'd go to a movie theater right here, thanks.
for me vivah outdid kank, cuz kank was too westernish for me. but it was good.

I totally agree with rahat04. Vivah and KANK contrast each other. Those that favored Vivah are attracted to the unrealistic romance and while with KANK the romance was realistic. KANK is a wakeup call for Vivah fans. I'm not for affairs or adultery, but I'm not going to look away from reality and drool over a fairytale romance.

Glory Hallelujah! less clothes does not equal more talent...this film was stunning and simple and many of the situations so true to life...plus the amazing chemistry b/w Shahid and Amrita, what a treat! i found many parts of HSSH difficult to stomach but this was the perfect mix of sweet and dramatic without being over the top. This movie is simply one of the best movies I saw in recent years maybe the best even. I saw it last night and it was amazing and i was totally into it.Its way way better than KANK Don Janeman and the rest, what made this movie so good is the simplicity and the greatest onscreen couple after (SRK&Kajol left), Shahid and Amrita seriously they just look like their made for each other Shahid gotta be blind to be with kareena and not with Anrita.Shahid was great for the roll no overacting in the emotions simple and Amrita was perfect simple girl with stunning beauty way more beautiful than most of the other bollywod actresses which are fake beauty(lots of make-up) I hope she does this sort of good and big movies,hope she does a movie with Hrithik both are my favourite actors.Vivah was an excellent movie after a long time by S.Barjatya after the crap HSSH ans MPKDH not to the fault of any of the actors.He should continue to do this genre of movies and should repeat the pair of Shahid and Amrita and if not that definetly Amrita she rocks!!!

nooooothing good about this movie... fell asleep trying to watch it. I would rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon. No special plot. Dialouge sucked. Songs were a complete bore. If you guys watched this movie because it was "cute" why don't u guys just stare a little puppy or something.
I can't believe people actually enjoyed this utter crap fest of a movie. It presents Indian cinema's most cliched plot ever, has no substance in plot or characters, and there is absolutely no true conflict. And some of you have said it is simple, how the hell does that make a film good. Is that just proof that you guys are too dumb, to understand movies that are not simple? Sure some can get overly complicated, but I mean if you are that brain dead that you have to consider simplistic and cliched piece of turd that is Vivah as a good film then go right ahead.
shareFabulous is a big word, but I definitely liked and enjoyed this simple, cute family film very much. I'm especially pleased with the variety of films that Hindi cinema has today. Probably I wouldn't have liked VIVAH if Hindi cinema would've stuck to "the formula", but it's the diversity of films we have today which makes me enjoy a film like VIVAH, while I earlier enjoyed a BAS EK PAL (though I like the last one more than VIVAH).
shareI thought it was a great movie and for a change you dont have girls gyrating in skimpy clothes and guys chasing after them like a pack of desparate street dogs...But the movie is highly underrated...and to really enjoy th movie you must let your heart rule the head...however cliched that may sound...we are probably too cynical to believe that this chemistry is not applicable in real life but how many of us have tried to make it work? most of us are too scared to even believe its possible. everyone is entitled to their opinions and i wont contradict anyone but seriously let go of your cynicism if you want to enjoy the underlying romance that this movie oozes in abundance...just because the dialogues seem too simple doesnt mean they are to be taken at face value!!! go enjoy it!!!

absolutely aggree. this was a fantastic movie.. so the plot was a bit old fashioned. cleearly was trying to attract emotional romance loving girls... who sit and cry in movies and dream of Mr. right.. amrita and shahid definately the new srk and kajol.. not that srk & kajol can be replaced but anyway. i think the reason is that shahid looks a bit like srk.. from certain angles... sometimes.. and amrita looks a bit like kajol.. and the fact that they are placed together so often just increases the coincidence... i mean clearly we aren't the only ones who think this... i think that is why they are put together and why they suit so well.. but i doubt they will end up together i mean look at srk and kajol.. we all wanted them to end up together but look where they ended up.. gauri? and ajay? and besides shahid and kareena seem to be pretty serious... anyway vivah was an amazing movie... didn't like the songs at first but after the 4th time watching the movie i love them.. well O jiji, hamari shaadi and do anjaane ajnaabi anyway.. the others are ok.. those three are the best can't stop listening to them...lol saw this movie 5 times in a matter of 4 days... my favourite part is when he asks for water and she comes up with the water and says.. kuch kehna tha? omg it was sooo cute....

shareI've always admired Sooraj and though I'm a big fan of him, this film was a big disappointment. This movie lacks subtlety and after it is over you have big questionmark on your face. There are number of reasons-
1. Music is dull and you do not wish to here it again (I didn't even hear a single song playing anywhere before watching the movie).
2. There was no story or theme or premise. Without conflict no drama can be created, I know that Sooraj must be aware of this fact that's why the way he uses small conflict (hilarious I say) just before the end remains "CHEAP SENTIMENTAL VEHICLE" and people keep thinking 'Was that necessary ?'.
3. Again some moments were cheesy and the way Sooraj understands facial expressions and balances between underplay and overplay keeps you occupied for first half of the movie. But again as there is no conflict in the story, after first half movie looses it's grip over the viewer.
4. Now the million dollar question - Is the world is so simple, I mean however good you are, LIFE IS NO FAIRY-TALE. You see the film deals with such a small bunch of community and revolves around small village. So questions about GOODNESS, FAMILY VALUES, SOCIOLOGY and HUMAN NATURE which film shows remain unanswered with such a small attention given to characters doing things other than celebrating there ENGAGEMENTS and VIVAH.
I wanted to see this movie not only for my love for Sooraj but on what level of integrity and growth he is showing each time after 4-5 years with a new film, but to be honest, I was not at all satisfied. And instead of feeling sorry for him I'd not hesitate coming hard on him like this.
Well i think this is difficult one.. it depends on the viewer how he actually percieves or follow the movie. Let me put it simple:
If the viewer is looking for something like 'KAL HO NA HO' or a movie which is made according to the new era ( in which movies are much vibrant and love stories are being transformed into kool flicks) then this movie is certainly not for that category.
On the other sides,if one is looking for pure and creatively woven love stories ( like 'DDLJ' or somewhat like that) then this one is for you.
Unfortunately movies on pure love plot are not being made nowdays. Those golden days have passed ,in which movies like 'mughal-e-azam' or 'heer ranjha' were on the directors list ,instead sex stories like 'jism' or 'murder' and rush films like 'dhoom' have caught the attention.
Well what is a true love story after all...? A movie which tries to understand or brings on screen not only romance, but the sacrifice , pain and deep emotions which the two souls share b/w them and teaches that love is just not mere attraction but it is a phenomenon which overlooks the boundaries of religion , colour, and cast. Well one example which just came in my mind (i.e veer zaara).
Well personaly I thought thrice before watching this movie .It did seem to get bored in some places but the excellent chemistry b/w shahid and the girl, caught me till the end .On the whole I recommend it and give it a 7/10

i'll admit that amrita and shahid look so good together that he should totally ditch kareena (who really looks like his older sister) and hook up with amrita! but seriously guys...this movie wasn't all that..amrita was soooo shy...it was damn annoying! i mean WHY?? she barely says two lines in a row!(esp in scenes with her future husband!) GOD..nobody's that shy.and it was overly too sweet, sickeningly so.but..i admit that it appealed to the hopeless romantic in me...

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.Why would you compare Vivah to the Matrix.The Matrix is a science fiction movie,it's not meant to be real.Vivah had no special effects like the Matix.
It's just people don't make a huge decision about marriage so quickly (I believe it took Amrita 2 minutes to decide her fate).Are you saying you wouldn't mind marrying someone you just met & in 5 minutes getting married to that person.You hardly know the person.It's stupid.That part was unrealistic.And I don't know what you mean by "good."I got the impression her aunt & uncle were forcing it & Amrita didn't want to fight back so she accepted.

Maybe my Matrix example was kinda wrong but I meant to say that in his movies, girls are always constantly blushing and trying to look pretty(Which they do!) But atleast sOORAJ makes old people behave like old people AND NOT MAKE THEM DANCE LIKE THEY ARE YOUNG ADULTS!
i just finished watching the movie, it was FANTASTIC! loved it, sooraj the director is simply brilliant. i just need 2 watch his other 2 films now, HSSH and MPKDH.
shareDo not watch HSSH. Good start but then it is so goody-goody that all of it starts feeling fake. I almost got diabetes. Vivah did not have the marriage video feel of HAHK but I must admit HAHK was better and more likable.
