If you want to watch this for the gay aspect, its subtle but probably there.
I really don't recommend watching this if the gay aspect is important to you.

Ioan doesn't go into it.

He has sex with the female photographer he is hired by. The older man he seemed to only be friends with kills himself. The older man was likely attracted to Ioan. He leaves his new life to go back to Romania.
