Good story but...

...it feels like a construction worker's dream, than something that could actually happen in real life. As if is the only way for a guy like that to get laid with a beautiful smart independent gentle woman who has these wild sex fantasies about butt sex, sex in the doctors office, with the school teacher, etc. without any attachment but eventually to fall in love with each other.

Actually I think all characters are fairly believable, with the exception of Joe.

For Christi Ann, an uptight person (man or woman) feels like a common choice to be someone with lots of fantasies -- and has been the case in my sexual experience.

I'm not really sure the personality type a psychologist would consider Donna, but I am very close to that person -- a privileged artist who is way too sexually expressive, but timid enough in her professional life to achieve any real fame. What is the deal with the rough sex with her? I like the same stuff. I always figured it had to do with wanting to lose control in one place while maintaining it everywhere else.

Stanny is clearly the protagonist of the movie. It's a story that really serves as masturbation for writers (since the guy who plays Stanny also wrote it). He's the most complex character in that we really don't know his motives, except that he has a conflicted sense of family and commitment and other conflicts with expression.

Joe for me is just not that realistic, except that he's a Himbo. But I've never really met a guy like that who is simultaneously easygoing and that enlightened about sex. Oh no -- he's not only good in bed -- he knows what makes him good. And somehow that keeps him single for many many years, but suddenly able to emotionally commit to the most uptight woman on the planet? If you ask me, he's the fantasy. I feel like he was written like an afterthought.

I didnt mean that the characters were not realistic. It was how they were put together to make the story.

If your person type is close to Donna's then would you watch porn and have fantasies about rough sex instead of just going out and finding the right person? Pretty women don't watch porn do they? They just make their own.

I don't completely disagree with you, however - there was the scene where he confronted Stanny about always taking issue with his previous girlfriends that could explain his being single. He was so loyal to Stanny that up until that point, he never questioned his judgment and didn't keep his ladies around for long because of Stanny's issues with them...

If you had listened he told Stanny that he had let him control his relationship with women and that he was having NO MORE of it. PAY ATTENTION when they speak! Damn, you are all like duh!
