A set up? And Gina's role (spoilers)

Loved the movie. Didn't realize same director that did MALENA and CINEMA PARADISO, both of which I loved.

My question is did Mrs. Adacher really die? Or was it a setup of some kind? I ask because a few scenes later, after the car is pulled up out of the water, Irine is in a room with a bunch of people (including someone who looks like Mrs. Adacher!) and someone says, "you all played your parts beautifully." Am I mistaken? What am I missing here?

Secondly, was Gina the midwife? Did Irine know her from the brothel, but then Gina didn't recognize her later on?

1. I'm pretty sure Mrs. Adacher died. It is Irena who says that line to her 2 female lawyers - meaning she said that they did their job well in trying to defend her.

2. Gina was the original housekeeper for the Adachers. I had the same confusion initially but this was later cleared up.

I'll just add that the midwife was the women who was questioned by the police and who clarified where the name Adacher came from (the back of Mold's medallion). That was a very sad moment in the movie when Irena started to realize that Tea may not be her daughter.
