a lot of movie come it with doubles; antz and bugs life, 23 and stranger than ficion, illusionist and prestige, twighlight and let the right one in, stardust and enchanted..... and literally hundreds more that i can't name off the top of my head. there use to be a list of all movie double that come out at same time here on IMDB but i cant find it. if anyone knows what im talking about put up a link. it some kind of marketing strategy so that they can target a larger demographic with two different movies with similar concepts.

@tim cantebury - you did not just compare twilight to let the right one in. ltroi was a brilliant blend of storytelling and ambiance, twilight was a bunch of sparkly vampires. it would have been more fitting to compare twilight to dawson's creek. I do agree, however, with much of your assessment, it's just bad timing that Inkheart came out around the same time as Bedtime Stories

Some of it could be that's just what people are interested in at the time. Some could also be deliberate ripping off. There's also new technology to consider. Like someone invents a new film-making technique and everyone wants to use it, but they all use it the same way.

You might be thinking of the Butterfly Effect, in which the main character is the opposite of Mo--he writes things down and they come true.

Then again, you might just be trippin.

reply

No he doesn't, in the Butterfly Effect he time travels back to events he blacked out of when he re-reads the reportage in his diary... Have you not seen the film?

reply

There's also Monkeybone, about a cartoonist (Brendan Fraser) whose character comes to life.

Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories
That's what I though I was going to see.

Is this the signature or still part of the post?

I think you're thinking of Stranger Than Fiction

The only movie I can think of that comes close is Spiderwick Chronicles, but in that one, the book comes to life completely.

But it has been a common theme in several books, so maybe that is why it seems so familiar.

reply

Pagemaster is similar in the fact that he entes classic stories but it came out a while ago.

It's funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen

When I first saw the preview I immediately thought of The Spider wick Cronicals

Well, there's an anime called Princess Tutu, and one of the characters can write things and then they happen. Maybe you're thinking of that?

reply

In an episode of Xena: Warrior Princess Aphrodite enchants Gabrielle's scroll so that everything she writes come true. Very entertaining episode.
