If you had silvertongues' ability, which book would you read out loud?

And why?

reply

Lord of the Rings/The Silmarillion. But first, I'd build a bomb shelter, and observe from there ;D It would be the greatest thing ever.

reply

Well only observe?? Not part of the action?

reply

Imagine if you read the Ring out... would that just solve the Sauron problem?

I'd probably try to read a dragon (or a dragon egg) out of the Dragonriders of Pern series. Telepathy, teleportation and time travel! Then again, it might be better to read objects out than people or big creatures that probably couldn't live on this planet. Certain objects from Harry Potter come to mind: the time-turner, invisibility cloak, and philosopher's stone, to begin with- assuming that wands and brooms wouldn't work for me as a muggle, and that I could figure out what to do with a philosopher's stone. But poor Harry without his cloak and things!

If I could read myself into a book, I would definitely choose Pern. At least they have plumbing, and plenty of feasible career options. If I read myself into Middle Earth, I'd probably end up doing laundry and washing dishes or whatever random women who can't fight do until they get eaten by orcs. Some other worlds I'd like to visit are in Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogy, Raymond Feist's Riftworld saga, and of course Narnia (during a peaceful time). Many books are wonderful to read, but I wouldn't ever want to visit them!

What happens if you read yourself into a nonfiction, contemporary, or historical fiction book? Do you end up in a different world where those characters are real, but is otherwise a complete replica of this one, or do you stay in the same world but teleport to wherever the book is set? Inkworld (in Inkheart's sequels) is pretty detailed, but we never find out how extensive it is. If you get beyond the borders of the story, is there anything there? Where do these worlds even exist? The whole concept is pretty weird.

Good Q: I'd like Nostromo read aloud. I know a bit serious and not fantastical, but there we are.

Why is it creepy?

The showroom brochure for the new Dodge Challenger, or maybe the Chevy Camaro. Or maybe both.

If it's not time-sensitive, then the 1967 Corvette, the 1969 Chevy Camaro, and so many more...

Warren Buffet's bank statement...

Raylan Givens: I told him he's got 24 hours to get out of town or I'm gonna kill him.

reply

The witcher, either of them!

reply

Yes, ok....but how you could read that?!?!

reply

Robert Heinlein's Lazarus Long books. Hands down my well re-read favorites.

reply

Jenna Jameson autobiography, or 1984

reply

Something from star trek or something because:

Awesome future with peace and no need to really work hard to live.
Space Travel.
Replicators that will create anything i'd like.
Holodeck (No need to read books to make lord of the ring for example happen, i can just program the holodeck for middle earth).

reply

Dont forget tele-transportation!!!!

reply

I would read Mein Kampf or something to get Hitler out so I could personally punch him in the face, and kick him in the groin.

I want to play a game.

reply

Harry *beep* Potter!!!

If not, then I'd just read a few classic Superman Comics... along with some Hulk Comics, so we can finally see those two monstrously strong characters duke it out!!

reply

Superheroes...cool!
Harry Potter...?? Not very interesting!!!

reply

Harry Potter is a really cool universe, just because the movies or books didn't do anything interesting with it doesn't mean it wouldn't be cool as hell to bring to life!

reply

Ι havent read the books so i wont argue with that...besides it is common that a movie cant include all those things that a book has.

reply

Ya I know, the movies technically sucked compared to the books(although I haven't read all of them), but I still enjoyed the movies since it took me back to the magic of being a kid similar to the feeling of that first time you visited Walt Disney World as a kid(if you ever did).

Harry and his pals has way too many morals holding them back from doing everything they could with magic, *beep* we didn't even get to see more than a portion of Dumbledore full power!! That due was over 100yrs old and he was the greatest wizard to ever live, even greater than Harry!! Some cool stuff can happen in that universe and I'd totally live in it if I had the chance!!

reply

Harry Potter or Alice in Wonderland. Harry Potter for the sake of seeing a real life Hogwarts and being able to cast magic and Alice in Wonderland for the sake of bringing Wonderland to life but stopping short of the Queen of Hearts, wouldn't want the world controlled by a tyrant :P

I would read myself into the 'Seven Waters' trilogy world by Juliette Marillier. It's celtic fantasy and I absolutely love the scenery and the characters.

If I would try to read anything out of a book, I'd read Donald Duck's. Especially the parts of Scrooge's McDuck's money bin :P With the money I would buy a forest and build my perfect house away from everything and everyone (but with highspeed internet ofcourse :P)
