reply

Only reason I'll watch it, is for Ashly Rae !

I've read on the Slasherpool forum that there's a rumour (and I stress that it is currently just a rumour) that Sony were surprised at how much money 'Urban Legends: Bloody Mary' made from DVD rental & retail, and promptly bought back the rights to the UL name from 18th Street Productions because they now realise that the UL franchise still has legs.

Hence, 18th Street Productions have been forced to change their movie's title, as it's no longer officially part of the UL series.

Eh, I'd have to go with Marnette Patterson as a good reason to watch this film. Of course, that it is based on a real place is another good reason.

I'm with cagoddard, the best reason to watch it will be Ashly Rae!

i aint gon buy it if it aint say urban legends on the cover

reply

Why not?
Surely a movie should be judged on its content irrespective of any series name being attached to it?
If it did have "Urban Legends" attached to it would not make it better or worse as it is still the same finished product!

reply

Rumor alert: I heard that Sony wasn't happy with the low-budget look and feel of the movie. Recognizing potential still exists for an Urban Legends franchise of direct-to-DVD films, they didn't want this to tarnish the brand anymore than it already has been.

reply

It's ironic that having bought back the rights to the Urban Legends franchise, Sony Pictures then proceeded to do nothing with it.
