Real life hauntings.

Based on what little I've been able to learn about this film, it appears to be part of the new trend amongst low budget horror film-makers to shoot movies at locations which are actually supposed to be haunted.

Death Tunnel is one example, and there have been a couple of others I've heard about, but I can't remember the titles.

The Exorcism...was said to be haunted. There were a bunch of weird things that happened on that set apparently.

"An american haunting" is based on the Bell witch hauntings that took place in tennesee between 1817 and 1821. other then that I also believe the exorsism of emily rose was a real life hautning/happening.

I don't think either of you understood what the orginal poster meant. He meant that many newer movies are now filmed at places that are actually haunted, not movies based on real hauntings.

Session 9 is another one filmed at a haunted asylum, Danvers State Hospital.

Last Movie: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Fav. Movies last year: The Dark Knight

Session 9 was amazing, and some of the actors claimed to have felt a weird atmosphere while filming there. I don't remember who it was, but one of them was looking down from the roof of the building and he said he had a fleeting moment where he wondered what it would be like to jump off, though it wasn't a suicidal thought, and he firmly believed it was the influence of that place which made that thought come to his mind.

Session 9! That's it - one of the other films that I couldn't remember.

I was haunted at how crap this movie was.

Indeed it does seem to be a trend. The best thing about all three movies mentioned, Goldfield, Death and Session is the place itself. Session 9 was a decent film in its own right, unlike the other two, but still, the best thing about it was Danvers, now burnt to the ground.
