Does anyone know what Lily and Damon mean when they say "safety grass" and Lily puts a handful of grass in the dash of the car?

it's "safety fern", a play off "safety first". it's a cute way of saying drive safe. apparently it's a joke from loren horsely's family. :)

It's just a strange way of saying "Good luck, have a safe ride".
