So did Fox deliberately tank this show??

From prior to day one, all of the episodes were available online...AND....each of the 3 weeks it was on, it ran back to back....

as a viewer, it's great to get a chance to see the show online, but, considering they still do things based on nielsen ratings, was it the right way to go.

I thought it was a really enjoyable family style show, with some nice subversive elements inserted every now and then. The reviews I read were as positive as I can remember for a midseason comedy.

I'm left wondering if Fox tanked this one and aired it only out of loyalty to Seth, who has proven a big contributor (even after they gave up on him at first).

FOX tanks all of the good shows, and keeps all of the bad ones. ("The Loop", anyone)

I loved the show as well, and I just found out about its cancellation. I am tired of being treated like this by the TV networks. Eventually, I'll stop trying to like shows, because once I like something it is sure to get canceled.

I miss Wonderfalls. Look it up. Another Fox show killed too early.

Fox has pissed me off too many times to count. The Winner, Happy Hour, Lucky, Arrested Development, Titus, Futurama, Head Cases, Reunion, and probably more I can't remember right now.

That's true. They cancelled Family Guy twice. Can you believe that? The fans were the ones to bring it back. It got brought back both times due to DVD sales.

reply

i agree fox cancels all the good one im mostly angry that they canceled married with children!anyone else like this show! katey sagal was the teacher in the winner and shes does the voice for leela in furturama!

Really?? protestors..I don't remember hearing anything about that. Screw Fox for giving up this show. It had potential.

reply

I used to love Married with Children, which had 11 SEASONS! So I don't know what you are complaining about... BTW you should check out Unhappily Ever After which is a same kind of show.

reply

Family Guy was cancelled ONCE.

Best show cancelled???

JOHN DOE!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

This show was just horrendous guys. I'm sorry but it just was a really unfunny show.

Though I do agree Fox cancels a lot of great shows. This show definitely wasn't one of those great ones.

I also thought that this show in particular was poor.
Fox aired a lot of garbage along with the great stuff, so it almost seems like they had to cancel SOMETHING, and just got some of their shows mixed up.

I love how Family Guy took a shot at it too.

Peter: Everybody, I got bad news. We've been canceled.
Lois: Oh, no! Peter, how could they do that?
Peter: Well, unfortunately, Lois, there's just no more room on the schedule. We've just got to accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows, like "Dark Angel", "Titus", "Undeclared", "Action", "That '80s Show", "Wonder Falls", "Fastlane", "Andy Richter Controls the Universe", "Skin", "Girls Club", "Cracking Up", "The Pitts", "Firefly", "Get Real", "Freaky Links", "Wanda at Large", "Costello", "The Lone Gunmen", "A Minute with Stan Hooper", "Normal, Ohio", "Pasadena", "Harsh Realm", "Keen Eddie", "The Street", "American Embassy", "Cedric the Entertainer", "The Tick", "Louie", and "Greg the Bunny".

that was a pretty excellent list of shows too...i think i watched all of them at least once or twice during the brief time they all aired.

Notice Brian didn't list the few shows that did work in Family Guys absence---you know the two or three shows Fox premiered and then didn't cancel during the time span that Fam Guy was off the air

The Bernie Mac Show, Arrested Development, House, 24, and a little show that pretty much saved the entire network American Idol.

That's it...in the five years between the first cancellation and the new revival...Fox had 5 shows live of all the ones it tried out. incredible

Also no mention of Grounded For Life---was that still airing on Fox when Fam Guy came back to life? I know Malcom In The Middle was near the end of its run...so how would that be possible?

FOX DID NOT DELIBERATELY TANK THE SHOW THO---IT AIRED EPISODES BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER FAMILY GUY SO THE AUDIENCE THAT TURNED INTO FAMILY GUY COULDN"T POSSIBLY IGNORE IT---IF ANYTHIGN THAT"S DOING THEM A FAVOR INSTEAD OF SAY BURYING THEM BEFORE THE SIMPSONS ON SUNDAY NIGHTS OR SAY MOVING THEM AT THE LAST MINUTE TO A THURSDAY NIGHT AND THEN NOT PROMOTING THAT MOVE OR SOMETHING.

THERE IS ONE SHOW FOX DELIBERATELY TANKED==THE WAR AT HOME!!!
NO GOOD REASON FOR CANCELLING THAT ONE. SERIOUSLY---RATINGS WERE STILL DECENT.

who shot who in the what now?

Family guy was canceled twice. Family Guy was canceled once in 2000 and again in 2002.

reply

Family Guy was cancelled by Cartoon Network in 2002, not FOX.

reply

It was shown in sydnication on cn. You have to keep up if you want to post.

No it was cancelled TWICE. The first being in 2000 (after 2nd season) and then again from 2002 to 2005! It was brought back because of DVD sales.
I really wanted to see this show but it ws cancelled *crys* I live in the Uk so I didn't see it.*crys some more*

No, Family Guy was canceled twice. It was first canceled after season 2, then again after season 3.

reply

How about Titus?
One of my favorites.

I was dissappointed with the Winner. Though I am a fan of the other MacFarlane series this was just too juvenile.

I have to say I was really digging the Loop. I actually ruined the TV room carpet when I spat out my wine because I laughed so hard.

Wonderfalls was great though I have given the DVD set to 15 people and counting. 'Now people will think I am a baby saver.'

reply

I liked this show a lot and it was gone within the blink of an eye. Fox certainly does cancel good shows. My favorite canceled Fox show was Profit which starred Adrian Pasdar (now Nathan Petrelli on Heroes). I also liked Fastlane and Futurama.

reply

I thought this show had potential to last several seasons. It was funny! Pure stupidity dropping this one.

reply

really couldn't stand this show...im glad fox finally stopped riding SETH McFarlan's dick so hard...honestly...this show wasn't funny and i honestly think its unfunniness was what was supposed to make it funny (think about it the highly fake laugh track)....

Kim Possible's gone again...NOOOOO!!!...OK im too dissappointed for a college Junior

reply

I just like the show and it was funny. I want to know who else he banged b4 he gets with his friends mom. Plus Family Guy suckz after they returned. The need to mild down on the "reminds me about that time" jokes.

reply

You do realize there were no "fake laugh tracks". The Winner was filmed in front of a live studio audience. But *beep* Fox for tanking this.

reply

All multi-camera sitcoms which are filmed in front of a live studio audience (like Winner) also add in canned laughter (like Winner). Different shows add the canned laughter in to differing degrees.

reply

i loved this show. and then, like the war at home [another show i REALLY liked], it just disappeared. those were really good shows, i think, and quite funny. they were different from other comedies. thankfully fox still has house, becuase if they cancelled that, i would literally die. but anyways, they do cancel a lot of good shows. and i never knew futurama was originally on fox. i love that show! :D

reply

I just want to say I loved this show (and The War at Home) and I think Fox should definitely bring it back!! Come on!! ...come on!!! Come on!

What about the Ben Stiller Show? Cancelled and then won an Emmy.

I'm only just finding out about this show (It's airing here right now) and I like it... and FOX in their douchey wisdom cancel it like they did to Firefly, Kitchen Confidential and a whole slew of others.

What happened to the old days when FOX actually gave shows a chance? Married With Children wasn't an instant success, if it started today with the same ratings it'd never make it past the 4th episode. Instead it was allowed to go on it's own and given a few seasons to build an audience and because of that we got 11 seasons of fantastic comedy. Why can't FOX learn from it's success? If they would just give shows a chance instead of pulling them off air after 4 weeks maybe they'd be able to make the big successes they used to make.

If you have a problem with what I say, learn the meaning of a joke and shut up

reply

I remember FOX was showing two episodes in the same day. I got the feeling FOX was gonna cancel it very early on, and just ran each episode quick to get it done and out of the way.
