The ending

There's a strange flaw in the end. Although it's understandable that Pete does not go on with the divorce, there's no sign of him NOT choosing for Kelly. Or planning breaking up with her.

Also: Sarah and Jack were apparantly in a romantic relationship for years, but his death means less to her than the positive results of Pete's hospital-tests?????

Ok I know this was posted years ago but just saw this movie and had to post. The ending is very clear did you not see sarah give pete the key to the house and pete gave sarah her ring back as they kissed when going in to their home, which to me made it clear he choose to stay married to her and be back into his kids lives.

Second thing about jack I felt he was more a friend to sarah than romantic tho he might have wanted more I dont think she did they did not come across as a couple more of just friends who helped get over petes leaving and his wife dying.

I think the OP is talking about the fact that one minute Pete is sitting on the steps with Kelly after he excuses himself from the happy family moment in the room. We have no idea that he's now chosen to stay with his wife until the very end of the film. It came from out of nowhere.
