the annoying thing about 'SciFi' movies

Yes, Gryphon is a typical SciFi movie.
Yes, I refuse to change how I spell the name 'cause I think the new spelling is dumb :P

But I've discovered something annoying about SciFi movies, something that keeps me coming back and watching them even though I KNOW they're hilariously bad. For a few fleeting moments, they actually have COOL IDEAS! It's a miracle, I know, but really, when you think about it (if you actually forced yourself to pay attention the whole time), you can actually come out of the stereotypical SciFi movie with a few cool thoughts.

For example, in Gryphon, the Valley of the Dead. Yes, it's been done a few times before. But the screaming is what got me. Normally it's dead silent with maybe some wind if the setting is right. But the constant ghostly wails were awesome (to me). There are a few other things, but I'd have to say my most favorite element of this movie had to be the basilisk tears. I was watching a crappy version of the movie, but when that part came on and Seth's eyes changed, I was like "Whoah! That's something nifty! I'll have to remember that."

Also, I've discovered that SciFi is pretty much the only place I can find creature movies of nearly any kind. Yes, there are some descent fantasy creature features out there, but not NEARLY enough to satisfy my cravings. I'm a fantasy junkie, and whether they're crap or not, I will probably watch the movies. Unlike my family, I have the ability of ignoring the crappiness of a movie if it's fantasy or the story is good enough. But ONLY if the story is good enough :P

It is not a science fiction movie.

It was made by the SciFi channel and was shown on that channel as well. The channel is now called Syfy (pronounced the same, but for some crazy reason they decided to change it, but there movies aren't benefiting from the change.)
