the end

ok, i literally just finished watching this after seeing a fan video on youtube. I don't get the ending at all. Alex stabbed Mara but Legion was still fine. Alex called for Mara and suddenly Legion is out of his host. How does Alex get Legion out of Mara's body?

And I thought Mara could only heal fresh wounds. When you look at the light it went from night time to daylight but she healed herself and not Alex? what gives?

reply

Yeah, that's a pretty good point ;-) WPS

Alex tried to heal Mara? I just thought she was trying to cop a feel. Just kidding. I like to think that she healed her enough but she was still passed out and that she got up and left after Mara did. They probably met up outside the door and Alex was all "YOU'RE ALIVE" and they smooched. That's what happened, no more questions!

No but seriously, I noticed that rigor mortis hadn't set in yet, so it's quite possible Mara was still alive. Her eyes were moist and when Alex kissed her, the tip of her nose was smooshed aside. I'm assuming a corpses' nose would stay in place what with the whole stiffness thing. If she did die, she'd be all stiff by then. I think that's what they were trying to show with the whole day/night cycle thing.

I tried to figure it out. I got nothing.

I thought she forced Legion out by her power. Sort of pushed him out of her, and it had to take another body fast. So it chose Anna, which I think was the plan.

Legion never stayed inside a damaged body as referenced in the earlier scene in the film (Leah gets the crap beaten out of her so jumps into Cecilia's body and so on). I think after Alex stabbed Mara, Legion was then forced into Anna's body as by that point Alex was also dying from the stomach wound.

I think Mara was a stronger person than Alex was which is why she survived and was able to heal herself. I was also thinking that maybe Alex's death could be seen as a sacrifice as she took more of a beating from Legion and it took all of her strength to defeat him.

That sounds like a perfect interpretation! Well done Ally-19! WPS (director/writer/editor, 5ive Girls)

Thank you! Pretty cool to get a personal response from the director of a film.

One question - I've noticed in your filmography that you worked with the talented Jordan Madley again (Unrivalled) and was wondering whether you had any info on Jennifer Miller who played Alex and whether you would be happy to work with her again? Maybe a sequel to 5ive Girls? Perhaps, it could be titled: 5ive Women?

reply

Jennifer's a fantastic actress (they all were!) and would love to work with her again. We actually had a 5ive Girls 2 sequel in the works before financing fell apart (it was tentatively called: 5IVE GIRLS 2: SATAN'S CHOICE) --- Had a lot of fun writing that script with co-writer Gary Nolan. It would have been a nice addition to the 5ive Girls story... and explained a bit more about why the girls in the first film all had "powers"... WPS

Soooo Alex didn't wake up and make out with......

About the sequel, would it have been a prequel? And have you thought about maybe trying to fund the sequel through kickstarter perhaps? Anyway, don't give up hope, you never know what's just around the corner.

Edit: You might need to throw in a couple of zombies or Cthulhu for like a 100% If you go the kickstarter way. Things with zombies or Lovecraftian abominations seem to be pretty popular over there.

2nd Edit: Seriously though, everything tagged "Cthulhu" has exceeded its funding goals...I dunno what's up with that..
