This Show is Terrible

I am sick of hearing from all of the people that actually enjoyed Teachers. What are you thinking? Every joke in the show was either stale or awful to begin with. The acting was marginal, the characters gave the audience no reason to connect with them, the "moral" at the end was cheese at its best.

That's all I have to say about that..

I thought it was pretty funny. Lucky for you, you do not have to watch it.

Saving human race from total extinction- no charge.

reply

But what did you find funny in it? Could you give me a line or moment from it that actually made you laugh?

reply

yup.
it was painfully bad.
i cant believe people liked it. it was like a parody of a sitcom

reply

What are you talking about????

What shows are you watching?

I watched this last night and it's the funniest show on right now.

reply

[deleted]

painful is the exact word I used after watching an episode

reply

I second that, this show sucks, I am not even going to waste my time sitting through this. Can't wait to this gets canceled and Scrubs its second half hour back.

reply

what is this suppose to mean? Although your attempt at a joke was better then anything on Teachers.

reply

I watched the first 2 episodes and it was painfully unfunny. I really like the brit show of the same name, but to me they're really different, it's not just a remake. The NBC version is way more sitcom-ish: jokes here, jokes there, utterly predictable punchlines and comedic situations, etc...The UK show incoporates many drama elements, the format is different too (45mins), it's a little more slow-paced but more subtle. In the end they're just 2 different products that may appeal to different audience (US or non US, doesn't matter).

I'll give this "US" Teachers 1 more go, but I'm afraid I'll be done with it pretty soon.

I watched the first episode last night to see if maybe I was being unfair to the show. Sorry, but no. The show stinks.

Justin Bartha's performance is not bad but he needs better material. Sarah Alexander was actually pretty good. The show had a couple of mildly amusing moments. The cast is good-looking. That's the extent of good things I can say.

Generally, the show sucks big time. A few seconds of mild amusement and a couple of hotties can't overcome 20 minutes of painfully stupid jokes following one another like a parade of turds. Nearly all the jokes are stinkers. Fewer jokes would have been better. One or two good jokes would have helped a whole lot.

The sad thing is that, as bad as the first episode was, the second episode was worse. The show is a dog. Arrf! Arrf!

It's not the cast that stinks; it's the writing. This show is not ready for prime time.

Agreed. This show IS terrible. It really makes me wonder what kind of qualifications are required to be a network executive. I guess having your head up your ass is high on the list.

reply

I must agree, this show is by far crap!

I think it's pretty good, I can name a lot more shows worse than this.

To Kanye West: "Holla 'He ain't Jesus!' He ain't Jesus!"

reply

The show might get by on the good looks of some of the people in it but Teachers is obviously written by the brain dead. I've seen worse shows but not many. The premise reminds me a lot of "Sabrina, The Teenage Witch" except that 'Teachers' is not as well written, not as funny, not as creative and not as sophisticated. And it doesn't have a talking cat. Sabrina is aimed at 12-year olds. I'm not sure what the target audience is for 'Teachers' but the writing so far has been below middle school level. It always amuses me that people get paid for writing such unfunny "comedy". 'Teachers' is not terrible. So far it hasn't been that good.

BMORIN54, i wish i could disagree. but after 2 shows i am calling it quits. i know that seems early but i cant take it. u are correct. i cannot connect with the characters. i dont care about them. their lines seem all forced like they arent having fun on the set.

reply

ppl it is based on the british version of teachers which is a cult classic and very funny my fave show of all time being that its british u might not get some of the jokes or wit very british wit but please have a look at it though the characters are believable and when the show eneded it was like the ending of friends it wasnt taken very well and honestly if uve seen the original office on uk tv u will agree it is far funnier than the us version

Well, I think this is a horrible show also. It's not funny at all and the jokes are disturbingly lame. It's not 1/284720488 as wonderful as Scubs.

I just ate a monkey testicle but the show still sucks. Phil Hendrie deserves better.

I thought that it began to pick up on the comedy in the second episode!

i gave EP1 a 5/10. EP2 i would give a 2/10.

I think the most depressing thing about this enterprise is that you could probably make a great sitcom about teachers (something along the lines of The Office), but instead we get this. Honestly, how much longer is the traditional three-camera sitcom structure going to sputter? Sitcoms like this demonstrate how creatively exhausted that format has become.

reply

I have to agree, this show is just terrible. I've watched it a couple of times now and the humor is not funny and relys upon sheer idiocy for the humor. Every single joke is telegraphed about 3 minutes in advance.

There is NOTHING that isn't typical sitcom idoicy. He starts to get near the girl he likes, and then the hot new sub shows up and destroys the moment. Yeah sure, how many millions of times have we seen this in the last 60 years. How about this:

He gets near the girl he really likes AND NO ONE SHOWS UP TO DESTROY THE MOMENT??!! Wow, now there's a concept. REALITY!

I can watch the same storylines from The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith show. Mary Tyler Moore Show, Nightcourt, and on and on.

The show pretty much sucks. It COULD be funny but they have decided to take the safe corporate way and aim it at the lowest common denominator. Trailer Parks.

First, "There is NOTHING that isn't typical sitcom idoicy.

REALITY! "
That's not reality. Not for most people anyway. Things ALWAYS get in the way of relationships, and it's pretty rare when things aren't destroyed or ruined or awkward or something otherwise uncomfortable.

Second, "The show pretty much sucks. It COULD be funny but they have decided to take the safe corporate way and aim it at the lowest common denominator. Trailer Parks." Offensive, much?

And, yeah. The show could've been more well written, and i would've liked to see more interaction with the students to make it more realistic, but it was good for a few laughs and a bit of interest.
And the actors were great. If you want to complain about the writing, that's fine. Write your own shows, submit it to a network and see how well it's recieved.

I don't really understand why you complain about what you're watching. If you don't like it, turn it off. It's cancelled now, so what's the point in making fun of it?

I have a great idea for a pilot; it's about teachers in a High School. Let's say it takes place in some place like New Jersey. There is a hard-core principal that is young but trying to prove herself. Then we will add a kiss-ass trying to keep his job and feels lowly among his peers. And an older teacher who is so tired of all the bureaucracy of the school. Then there is a wise-cracking guy who is supposed to be hip and cool but falls short. And let's not forget the token wingman of the funny guy. Then let's add a few hotties. One who is hot and cute and quirky and intelligent to make the wise-cracking guy all vulnerable too. But then to make it all come together is a moral to the storyline. Yes, a lesson learned. It's funny how I pulled this out of an orifice of my body from the same bull crap that has been played over and over in TV but then they try to make this new. You could take the first half of this posting and add some funny writing or even real life writing and I would give the show a chance, instead this is the worst kind of TV that there is out there. It's not real, it's not new and worse yet it’s not intellectual. I think Teacher's is out the door and let me just say don't let the door hit you on the way out.

reply

This is what bugs me most--the writers have obviously not been anywhere near a high school in ages

reply

Geez, people actually made it through a couple of episodes? I only made it through 10 minutes of the pilot episode before having to shut it off because I honestly thought it was by far the STUPIDEST thing I've ever seen!
