u can definitely tell its not in vancouver or richmond. as someone from vancouver, and also hangs out in richmond all the time, the filming locations look nothing like van/richmond.
also most of the people on this show cant speak chinese
I believe that most of the scenes were filmed in Langley...but there are definetely some in Vancouver and Richmond.
And you are correct about the actors not being able to speak Chinese. The majority of the actors were actually born in Vancouver and had to work with speak coaches to deliver their lines in Chinese! So considering that, they did a fantastic job!
Actually I found most of the cantonese to be quite good. It's the mandarin that was definitely off. It's expected that Eric Tsang a super famous HK actor would not speak Mandarin perfectly. The actress who played his wife, her cantonese sounded much better than her mandarin. It wasn't bad but not good enough to convince me that her character's mother tongue was mandarin.
The guy who played Movie Star, I could barely understand his English.
I have no idea if the Cambodian language was faithful or not having never heard the language before.
I'd agree, the setting seemed pretty generic.
collin (big time gangster guys who hangs out at the karioke club) cant speak canto at all. sorrows cant speak it as well. you can tell they had to reherse their pronounciation. their canto is just awful.
shareYou are correct. hahaha. The cambodia is off too. It made me laugh, when chavy speaks cambodian. But they probably gave her the part becuase she is well known. Well I never knew of her until this movie.

There were some scenes filmed at Parker Place in Richmond though, ie. the Chavy teddy bear shopping scene, the scene where Willie the Duck's friend is buying BBQ meat, and the scene where Tommy "rescues" his daughter at the mall from Movie Star.
