seriously...

the white dad and the black dad are stupid. I can't stand them. Both of them are racist and the refuse to see the other persons p.o.w. The black mom is kinda odd too, she thinks all white people have a great life.
The only good and sane person on this show is the white daughter and maybe the black son (until he got forced by his dad to see racism everywhere. poor kid).

To me it seemed the kids were a lot less hung up on race. The parents came across as if they saw a definite division, but that could have been the subconsciously getting into the spirit of the show.

I simply don't get it. If there was such a clear division between race, then why are we all so capable of getting along when we don't see race?
Why have so many interracial relationships been successful?

I mean, the kids had the right idea. They were true to themselves, and their heritage, but at the same time looked past the smallest obstacle in the world that so many people simply struggle with.

It seems to me that my generation (that of the kids on the show) doesn't get hung up over race the same way our parents do. White babyboomers are always concerned about race and how to make things as politically correct as they can be (which is their way of trying to rid the world of racism, however naiive it may be). Black babyboomers see racism directed towards them coming from everywhere (which is probably very valid, because no matter what anyone tells you, blacks and whites do get treated differently, subconcious or not).

And then there's our generation. For the most part, we don't give a sh*t about race. A white kid can act "black" and nobody thinks that's weird. A black kid can act "white" and nobody gives it a second thought. I think that with each passing generation, the lines separating races blur, little by little.

Prejudice is the act of pre-judging a person without getting to know them. Hip Hop has done that for a lot of people. Race is not a valid scientific term, hasn't been for decades. people prefer things they are familiar with, plain and simple. This generation still does as well. African american men and women are not considered as being an option for anything when the mixing of culture is concerned. Marriage, dating, friends...american culture dictates that we must shirk off any identity that connects us to the african american culture, or we are not "safe" for anything.

When people don't see race!!! HA HA HA. If people don't see race how would you like to be black for a year???? You will see how invisible race is when you try to get an apartment or buy a house or car. Try being black when you hang out with your friends or go to dinner with your family. The fact that they could not recruit a white family and had to hire actors instead is an illustration of how 'color blind' America really is.
