Howie and Willa Jean's Parents

It's been a long time since I have read the books, but what happened to their parents? I know the grandmother was there and Hobart was their uncle. Did it ever mention their parents or show them and I missed it?

reply

They're hardly in the books because the Kemps appear most often when Ramona is being babysat by Howie's grandmother. The mother makes some appearances in the first books (mostly Ramona the Pest). The only Mr. Kemp appearance I even remember is when he's best man at Hobart's wedding.

Mrs. Kemp showed up once in "Beezus and Ramona" to drop off Howie and Willa Jean to the party Ramona threw without permission, and several times in "Ramona the Pest" when she and Mrs. Quimby were taking their children to and from kindergarten and at the school's Halloween parade.

Their parents work which is why Howie and Willa Jean usually get watched over by their grandmother.
