So, I take it Wesley carted Fox off to the magical healing pool right after the events of the film.

We saw with the Russian guy that the pool has limitations for fatal wounds, even if you're still alive and just succumbing to the blood loss, etc.
Fox got a bullet right through her head and was killed instantly. Only way it would work is if the sequel was a prequel.
