The 8's in the title?

How does Slaughter night translate to "Sl8n8"?
That's "Slatenate", people, not Slaughter night.
The answer, of course, is that the original
title is Slachtnacht, with "acht" also meaning 8.
But still, why the 8's? Does the number 88 have
any meaning in the story, like the 7 did in "Se7en",
or are they just trying to look clever, or perhaps...
God forbid... l33t?

The title is getting on my nerves.
If anyone has seen it and can explain the 8's, I'd be thankful.

Very Simple

It is a dutch movie..

So Sl8n8 is in dutch when spoken (the dutch word for 8 is acht..)

it is slACHTnACHT which translates into english Slaughter Night....

So for non Dutch speakers it makes no sense..

Hope this helps...

and the use of the 8's does have a certain meaning in the film, because when using the ouija bord, the ghosts also talk with the use of numbers
"An3s" for example which in dutch can be read as "Andries"

Cool, that's what I needed to hear to accept the title like that too xD

The 8 in the title has even more significance. 8 murders are needed to get into hell and back. And did you notice how many people took the tour? Right, 8. 4 Dutch and 4 Belgian. I didn't count the number of kills, but I'm pretty sure this is also 8. And off course, 8 is the amount of minutes this movie lasts before you fall asleep.
