Negative reviews off base

OK, this isn't a great film, but it's decent and entertaining. I don't know what the reviewers expect of a low-budget supernatural film. Personally, I expected to see schlock, and so I was pleasantly surprised to find winning dialogue (using a flippant remark that one of the characters makes as an example of serious, stilted dialogue is unfair), adult characters and some tense, scary moments. This isn't cheeze, and it isn't one of those slight, lyrical indy drama. It's fun. Enjoy it for what it is.

I agree. Too often people require that every movie made stand up to big blockbusters and if it can't do that, it's automatically a "horrible" movie. I think this movie is like something you'd see on Lifetime (who in between the countless psycho stalker movies or dippy soap-type dramas come out with some pretty good stuff) or some other made-for-tv production. I liked it because it was down-to-earth in the depiction of the haunting. Things happen in the house that you would expect from a story on an actual haunted house--not the Hollywoodized "Poltergeist"-y extreme haunting events with super-duper special effects. This movie is just nice and creepy without making too many demands on the audience. I also liked the characters--they're all interesting people. The story was absorbing and it had intelligent dialogue.

Beckett: You were in Central Park-on a horse--naked.
Castle: It was Spring!

i like it too, not even for a minute did this movie bore me, matter-of-fact, it did have its moments of putting a wreck out of my chilly bones...(doesn't have to make sense) back to my comment, it is a very well done movie, with a surprisingly twisted ending. but i could be biased as i really like tim daly.
