He was dead?

He died?

We don't know.

He did

reply

YES, that's why they showed him crossing over to the other side and meeting up with his mother again. He remembered her as she looked back then and she did the same - i.e. that's why he was seen as a 5-year-old child when he crossed...

No I disagree. I believe the haunted abused child is who died. While he was unconcious his mother gave him the picnic image to right the wrong that she had done to him as a child. The child finally got the picnic and is healed. When he awakens he will be a different man.

It is impossible to tell. The evidence for his death is muddled by the appearance of the sullen little boy going to the picnic with the sad woman. Is this a vision? A peek into the afterlife? Whatever it was, it is terrible film-making.

No, He didn't die. This was a story of a man who had everything bottled up inside him since he was 5 years of age. It was that reason why he never cried or showed emotion. He fainted and fell down the stairs which unlocked the closet in his mind where he had everything locked away just as his mom used to lock him in a closet and as he talked to other during the progression of the movie the closet began to unlock and let little memories out with the help of his Mother's ghost. She knew he didn't mean to kill her and was very sorry for what she had done to him as a child. HE was knocked unconscious from the fall which totally opened him up and it was then that his mother was able to take the tormented child within him on the picnic she had promised him all those many years ago at the end of the movie. I liked this movie, It kept my attention all the way through it.
