What a movie!!! Seagal is back to his rampaging best.


If Steven Seagal's place in the pantheon of great actors wasn't secured already, it is now.

-His moves in this film are unbelievable. The end fight with the hottie is phenomenal and he moves with breakneck speed. The close-ups mid-fight were an excellent touch and how he could throw a roundhouse kick in with a flurry of punches is beyond me. Also, how deftly does he take those steps right befoe the end fight? The slow-mo captures the man's grace even better. Bruce Lee my ass, Seagal is the greatest Hollywood fighter ever, although Lee is a close second.

-His acting. This also sets him apart from Lee - Seagal delivers his lines with a timing and confidence that Lee never had. One of my favourite scenes of all time is in none other than Attack Force:

Tia: ''Can I talk with you for a second?''
Lawson: ''Yeah, talk away''
Tia: ''In private?''

[*The camera pans from Lawson to his sidekick who is mildly put out by the request. Tension builds*]

Lawson: ''Suuuuuuuure''.


This scene is absolutely brilliant and shows that Seagal is one of the finest exponant of killer lines in the business. Surely he'd be more suitable as Batman than Christian Bale, with his oafish disposition during dialgoue and his clunky movements?

Also, the support cast must be commended for adding to the aura that Lawson carries in this movie. Partiularly, I thought that the ''There's just 2 things you need to know about Marshall Lawson: One - he's a bad motherfu<ker. 2 - he's a bad motherfu<ker...'' line underlines the respect that Lawson commands from people who don't even know him and shows that his reputation precedes him.

I could go on all day about this, but I'd like to get some other people's views.

Em, I'm sorry PaulBrennan87, but there are a number of things you seem to have overlooked.

What about the cock-sured manner in which he delivers the line, 'here's to what might could make a really great team'? Grammar is irrelevent to this man's performance, it cannot get in the way of his commanding and understated, not to mention innate, ability to take you deeper into the scene, as if it was happening in your own living room.

And to me, it is inexplicable, how he can dub his own voice, in different manners, resulting in a variety of end-products, each more inspiring than the last. His voice seems to glide, as if it were a gazelle in the wilderness, hunting its prey. I particularly enjoy the smoky resonance of his voice when he decides to adopt a deeper tone, creating an intimidating(to say the least!!) aura emanating from his character's steely exterior.

He does however, have a human side. This is not just a one trick pony we are watching. Tia cares for him, you can feel the love as if it were jumping out of the screen at you. Watch in awe as the man shares a passionate embrace with his woman, then simply walks away. She looks upon him with fiery eroticism in her eyes...

Breathtaking is too small a word for a man of his stature(esteem wise and his imposing physicality), utterly superb, he is capable of leaving me speechless. Sometimes its hard to breathe, it hurts me inside, knowing that a man of his immense talent is unable to get top billing in a blockbuster nowadays. Hey, I can't help how I feel ok.

Whoa there gorillafiedwar, before I address what is otherwise a perfectly legitimate comment from you, I must argue that I have overlooked nothing. I have merely asked for opinions from others without hogging all of the debate-worthy points of the film.

But yes, I agree that he is a multi-faceted acting machine. You need look no further than his obvious distress at the loss of the three young men that ''might could'' have made a good team. He is a font of contorted anguish after their excellently choreographed murder, and this is conveyed through not only some brilliant facial expressions but also the way he carries himself around the hotel room. He doesn't have to say it, but you just know that he wants to explode into a rage letting loose his anger, grief, hysteria and despair. All of this is expertly shown to the viewer with minimal dialogue because Seagal doesn't need words to get all of this across.

But none of this gets in the way of Lawson's objectivity and clear-headed approach to his job. Note how he doesn't let his emotions overpower him when he is letting Detective Lambert know - under no uncertain terms - who has jurisdiction over his slain comrade's cadavers... If anything, he uses his anger and grief as an effective vehicle to assert his calm but ominous and complete dominance over Lambert. I mean you just have to sit back and admire Seagal's display of understated and applaudable machismo in the way he deals with Lambert. Sends a shiver down the spine, does it not?

Remember, there's just two things you need to know about Marshall Lawson...

I thought that your whole entire post was a joke. Everything that you stated I thought you were seriously joking on purpose. For me to think that you were actually serious about every single thing you said, then #1 you lost all credibility and #2 poor soul that you are, you must be mad or something. Seagal must love it that there are people like you out there. Well whatever floats your boat I guess.

I thought Mr Brennan was not joking at all, from the reviews of my friends, which are movie geniuses, Seagal's role in this movie was excellently written, and suuurely acted. I think after this movie, Seagal not only got rich and famous, but attracted many movie makers attention, and is going to take over the Hollywood in seconds!

Funny post.

This could very well be the worst movie ever. The thing had no structure. Most movies have a beginning, a middle and an end but this one went from one character/location to another without any coherence. Half the time I didn't know what was going on. And what's with the scene in the beginning? Did it have some point? And even if they decided to change the plot later and had to redo some of the dialog then why couldn't they get Seagal to redo his lines?

And the "horror" element failed big time. Watching the cathedral scene I couldn't have cared less who dies. It'd be only a matter of time before Seagal hits the scene, makes a few sloppy moves without getting a scratch and kills the bad guy in some stupid way.

And damn - anyone thought Seagal was a convincing looking "Commander"?
