IC: I've just started watching this movie today on USA, but I know what you're referring to. I don't know if it's in this movie or not, but in a recent Segal, I was convinced he must have throat cancer and all his lines were being dubbed by a really terrible immitation.

Yeah, I just heard "him" say "How're we gonna deal with them?" It's not just the croakiness, its the absence of that "new orleans" drawl, his characteristic enunciations, pacing, etc. Now, he sounds ok; maybe it's not this movie: the one I heard lasted throughout the little dialogue in the script.

Does anybody know what's going on, apart from really bad production values?

I don't know why they dubbed it, but doesn't it sound like Robert Patrick (Terminator 2 and others)? It sure sounds like him...

You know what dleland? That's exactly what I thought, especially at the end of the movie, I thought it sounded a lot like Patrick.

It's dubbed because they made changes after the film was finished. Instead of re-hiring him after the changes were made, which would have cost extra money, his voice was dubbed over by someone else.

It's done in many of his straight to DVD movies. In some of them, the voice-over does a passable job of emulating Seagal's speaking style. In other movies, it's laughable how little effort was put into doing so. This one falls into the latter category.

He's also not the only actor who falls into this category. Dolph Lundgren had it happen to him in one or two of his straight to DVD films, and Olivier Gruner had it happen in one or two movies as well, including one where he was dubbed from start to finish.

Oddly Seagal never whispered in this movie in the parts he actually did speak in, which was rare for his DTV movies. His voice in the movie is on par with his earlier movie career..
