I suggest you try Baraka.

baraka, koyaanisqatsi, mega cities, life in loops - megacities rmx by timo novotny (of sofa surfers fame), Lektionen in Finsternis

I would add : Deep Blue all Planet earth Documentaries. Totally agree with Lessons of Darkness, but then again that's Herzog we're talking about.

i would say all recommended videos in this post are great film, but nothing ever like this one. Gregory Colbert's Ashes and Snow is another level of greatness, that I don't think any other film has achieved since.
