Sophia Myles makes this film watchable; but... (spoiler)

How insane that the film killed off her character halfway through. It completely ruined the experience for me, and I had no interest in viewing the movie once she was gone.

I can't imagine what the story meetings were like. "Okay, we're fortunate enough to get the most beautiful actress working today to star in our film. But we'll kill off her character at the half-way point."

Insane.

Well, at least while she was there, the film did allow her to look utterly gorgeous. When she was dressed in that elegant halter gown in the beginning of the film . . . my heart melted. And later, the many close-ups of her lovely round, full, feminine face in natural white light, showing off the exquisite fairness of her complexion, were just breathtaking.

All in all, I enjoyed the first half of the film more than expected. Besides Sophia, the other thing the film had going for it was Berlin. Several scenes included famous Berlin landmarks, like the Brandenburger Tor, the Berliner Dom, the Hotel Adlon, etc.

That, plus Sophia, made it a gorgeous film to watch.

But once she was gone, it was all over, especially since the other female actress in the film was so painfully unattractive and uncharismatic.

Yeah, I really hated it when they killed that hot doctor. I didn't expect that to happen since the hero's wife (or girlfriend) usually survives in movies of this genre. However, I think she looked too young to be a medical researcher.

On the other hand, Mira Sorvino was almost forty and somewhat too old to be an agent, though I think she still looked attractive. She was the only one in the cast whose name I recognized (other than Angelica Huston, who was not expected to play a large part anyway). But she hardly appeared at all in the first half of the movie.
