Strange customs/insults in this region

Throwing shoes is an insult because "that's telling the person that he or she is lower than the dirty lowness of your shoe"?
Thumbs up is an insult?
When mourning you beat your face?
Making a circle with the index finger and thumb of one hand then sticking your other index finger through that hole is bad?
Asking a man about the well-being of a female family member is an insult?
If you're left handed, you should NEVER touch someone with the left hand because it's disrespectful, let alone bad when eating with the left hand? You should only wipe your rear with your left hand?

Geeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzz, talk about people that are easily offended. It's just hand gestures, people. Flip me off, I'll laugh at ya.

Say that when somebody sticks his middle finger to you.

And those customs belong to Iraq and Middle East. I don't know what "region" you are talking about, but they arenot valid in Turkey.

So. How is your mom?

reply

LOL, the middle finger doesn't bother me. That just shows they don't have the balls to do something to my face right in front of me. Like I said, I'll laugh at you if you flip me off.

Oh, my mom? Still trying to recupe from a back surgery but is further ahead than planned. The doctors said she should be 50% by Christmas time and she was about 70%, which kept her from having a miserable holiday season. We're hoping that this summer...oh, I'm sorry. You were trying to be sarcastic. That mom line, LOL...I haven't heard a mom line in quite a few years and thought nobody used it anymore. You know, kinda like calling someone a jive turkey or saying, "groovy".

LOL. Gee, you must get flipped off a lot then. Talk about being a douche. Judging by the responses on this board, you're probably used to getting insulted by now, aren't you?

reply

No, I don't get flipped off. But you think you're pretty tough behind the luxury of your keyboard by calling me names. LOL!

reply

Well, here's the best I can do.

-I didn't know the shoe one.
-No, thumbs up isn't.
-No, but the pain that comes with loss usually does to most people.
-I think the British also share that, but it's a gesture indicating frakking; further, if used in context, it becomes interchangable with the word 'fag' (with the Turkish word for 'circular' being a euphemism for homosexuality in widespread slang.)
-Asking about the well-being of a female family member is used interchangably with the "your mom" type insults. It's kinda hard to explain really, there is a whole mess of things that might be connected to that. It's kinda like the "yo momma" thing, only since the concept of a mother is considered almost divine, it isn't taken lightly.
