Can't help but think that some of the music was done by Ennio Morricone. It sounded too familiar to not be. Does anyone know if they used his music? Or did he actually compose songs for Origins?

No, he had nothing to do with the music. The music was done by Iwasaki Taku, who has a fairly long list of anime series under his belt.
