Is It Porn, or Is It Art?

Well, after watching this mish-mash of short films, all I can say is.....

NO!

I like Art (which is subjective) and this is most definitely not Art.

I also like Porn (which is objective) and this is most definitely not Porn.

Somehow, it ranges somewhere between, yet at the same time, exists outside of its own point of reference.

While I was watching it - and it took me three tries to get through it - I felt as though I had stumbled upon something ancient, sordid and messy; something found at the back of an old bookcase that had been misplaced for decades.

And this is what this film collection is.... a relic. A scrap. A shard.

And all in all, quite pointless.

Some advice - don't waste your money and time on this one. :o(

Hey, looky here, somebody admitting to liking both art and porn... good for you. It would seem most of the art-types are too stuck up to admit to liking porn, and the porn types, well, they're too busy to admit to liking art (or something). I would disagree that porn is necessarily objective (which would automatically make it subjective) but perhaps most of it is and thats why...well... lets discuss the collection and not porn itself...

First off, trying to lump these together is like trying to put together legos and megablocks... you can do it, but they really don't fit well- thus I feel your opinion is a bit unfair to a few of the pieces here.

In particular, "Hoist" was incredible. The cinematography was perfect, which is odd because to my knowledge, in the past Barney's films were all about symbolism and a camera that was a little shaky wasn't a big problem. And talk about symbolism, you could try to interpret this a million different ways, but I think its pretty clear that Barney had an idea here and wasn't just throwing out random junk and pretending it to be symbolism. I wouldn't expect any less from him, either.

Balkan Erotic epic a comedy, and it did get a few laughs out of me

We *beep* Alone was interesting and effective in creating a mood, if not altogether pointed.

I didn't really like "Impaled," despite my fondness for Clark and his raw style. It just didn't have any authenticity to it, and his style without the heavy realism suddenly looks amateur.

The rest probably aren't worth mentioning, as I would agree that they are kind of pointless. However, you always have to commend somebody willing to push boundaries, even if doesn't end up working out so well.

Well it's not art because it's within the context of pornography .That's why i'm sure just about all the sex scenes in this film.Found there way to some online porn site if not all of them. You can tell the film makers efforts are ambitious like a student film maker ambitious. He obviously isn't intelligent ,experienced and ,mature enough. To handle such topics with intelligence and insight why do we need to pornographic sex? .All your doing is contributing to the adult industry and what they put out. These type of films are just another genre of porn your not changing peoples perception of sex. They see this on a daily basis and they are still addicted to it .
I'm willing to bet they aren't looking at it from a subjective point of view thats for sure.A better angle would of been to focus on the psychology behind how pornography distorts reality .It would focus on a real subject of substance and get people thinking. If you want to achieve something you do the opposite not more of the same.If you take them away from what they already know it'll cause them too actually think about what they know. They say stuff like this is not made to titilate.Ideally maybe that is the case but the reality is that's exactly what it's supposed to do.If sex wasn't titilating we wouldn't exist its all titilating this film maker should get a clue .
