Does Anybody Else Notice This
I didn't care much for this movie,I finally caught it the other day on TV.This movie showed me how image conscience the NFL is.When it's MLB a fictional movie like Major League can be made using the Cleveland Indians as the team. When Hollywood makes a fictional movie about pro football, everything is fictional in the movie including the team names.
Only when it is a true story like Invincible are true names used.
My guess is Hollywood is afraid about being hassled by the NFL legal department. In this movie you have Kingman playing for the Boston Rebels rather than The New England Patriots.I guess if they used the Patriots the NFL would sue.People might confuse or compare Kingman with Tom Brady.
Also with another fictional football movie Any Given Sunday, does anybody else think that one team in the movie-The Dallas Knights-wore the goofiest looking football uniforms ever?
Anyway,my points about the NFL in this movie:
1.Kingman's daughter was named Peyton, the Colts Quarterback was simply called Manning.Nobody ever said Peyton Manning.
2.When the Rebels played Indianapolis, the team name was ever mentioned.
Being so image conscience is occasionally a good thing. The NFL was working hard on it's steroid abuse problem while MLB was still playing a game I like to call Let's not do anything to upset Barry Bonds.
A lot of times it really stupid like some of the fines the NFL hands out or how it deals with Hollywood.
