Can we at least agree on this......

Okay I'll keep my opinion to myself because in this debate it doesn't matter.
Global warming is off the table in this message board.

What I want to talk about are the natural resources coal and oil.

We rely on them so much and they are not renewable. Can we agree on this one simple notion "We will be screwed when these resources are gone" can I get a consensus on that? Everything circles back to oil/coal... you bought a hybrid car? That was made in a plant powered by coal/oil, you bought solar panels for your house? Those were made by factories using coal and oil... You are eating local produce? those were delivered by a truck using oil.

Hydro-electricity, solar power, wind power, NONE of these things could fill the void if Oil and Coal disappeared today.

THAT is what scares me.

I hope I'm not around to see humanity try and survive when we run out of gas.

I feel the exact same way. However, I read this:

http://economics.about.com/cs/macroeconomics/a/run_out_of_oil.htm

and it interested me. A lot of what is in the article makes sense. You should give it a read. While I'm not sure what he says is correct (how can you be sure anything is correct?), he depicts a very plausible scenario.

There is enough oil for hundreds of years.
