The Whole Jack Nicholson Thing

OK. He wore the tuque and the sunglasses were the same model Jack wore in the past. Add to that the remote, snowy mountain madness & we have "The Shining." Not the story, obviously.

My question: is this a tribute to Jack or a ripoff? Does this actor typically play up his likeness to Nicholson?

Ha I wrote in another post about the whole Jack Nicholson thing but yeah I think he was probably basing his character on him because if you want to play a scary psycho isolated in the snow what better reference material could you use?

You know, I was so intrigued by him & this movie that I bought the DVD. First, when they were not filming for the camera, he wore a warmer hat and bigger sunglasses, so I kind of think they were playing up the likeness in the movie. What was especially striking was his smile. Exactly like Jack's! With those white teeth, his smile is dazzling.

On the commentary, the director, I think it was, asked him if he played up his resemblance to JN and he said, "No." He stated that he could never be an actor of that caliber--good dodge and smart answer. The director also brought up "The Shining."

I crippled my arm in an accident and 12 years of hearing the, "Does your husband still beat you?" joke is pretty lame. I suppose he feels the same way hearing about his doppleganger.

There was actually a close-up of the doctor towards the end and he smiled and I thought, "DAMN that looks like Jack Nicholson!" Which is hilarious, because I then saw this thread...
