Opinions on the film?

I actually liked this movie :) because of Archie's character and the way it was filmed. Why did everyone else like it?

-It had a wide spectrum of emotions.

-It's style is somewhat disgusting at first but ends up being a lot more interesting than all the death going on. Also the near death, and death scenes feel more personal actually reach out to you more than most movies ever would. It's not like an epic death it's as if you knew them and never saw it coming but not in a make believe way in a very real and documented way. It's probably from using camcorders but I also thinks it had a lot to do with the acting and the way it's put together.

-the acting. again the acting feels so realistic that it doesn't feel like a Hollywood. It's like a film version of "World's Greatest Dad" (book/novel version)

-It's brutally honest

-The lighting is pretty simple yet impressive to the film. like the fact there still isn't any lights on in the gym and they all kinda just stormed in ready and then suddenly all that happens. It doesn't seem realistic that nobody would notice till that very moment but it adds to the effect. Then after the whole thing with pills has you on your toes and cussing in anger over there stupidity. By then you realized you have a soul and actually care about the characters.

-Thought about film directing but I'm much different in that I hate most of the film fan base and the formulated part of films which this movie had very little of. If I were to make a film I'd have to hire someone to filter out all the antichrist conservatives that try and ruin every great masterpiece and talk about it like it's filth in an elaborate scheme. Anyways it had a kid who wants to make movies but also wants to commit suicide all while being in a movie. It's kind of like inception and I'm limbo so that was pretty interesting.

The therapist and references make it even more personal if you know what they all are. especially the apocalypse now quote. "It's judgment that defeats us"

Started off promising, but it does get too tedious. Needed more suicide.

I loved it. I thought the pacing wasn't perfect: arguably too relentless at the start, and the party scene could have been shorter. But I loved the way the character-shot footage was integrated, loved the animation, very much liked the story and the performances. And I think the way that the story structure reflects the theme of the movie is close to brilliant: it starts off intentionally narcissistic, devoting itself mostly to found footage, and only gradually starts being about character, as it substitutes depth for surface flash.

I've now seen 154 movies released in 2011, and this is definitely in the top 50. I haven't crunched the numbers, but I'm betting it's one of the most overlooked films of the year.

Prepare your minds for a new scale of physical, scientific values, gentlemen.
